Coveris Installs 5-Layer Cast Film Line with AI Control in UK

Packaging manufacturer Coveris has installed a five-layer cast stretch film extrusion line of the type ALLrollEX 1500 mm from Colines at its Winsford extrusion hub in the UK. The system includes the Mastermind virtual assistant for process automation and was commissioned with full system integration, including downstream palletising.

The installed ALLrollEX line operates with a nominal web width of 1500 mm and is designed for the production of high-performance stretch film. The line supports five-layer co-extrusion with a focus on consistency, mechanical performance, and process stability under industrial-scale conditions. The system is equipped with Mastermind, Colines’ proprietary AI-based virtual assistant. The software module monitors and optimises process parameters in real time, enabling fast changeovers and minimised downtime. Key functions include predictive control, automated recipe management, and self-adjusting process loops.

In addition to the state-of-the-art extrusion line and automation system, a palletising unit was also delivered. Colines states that it was able to provide a complete system solution tailored to the customer’s requirements.

According to Coveris, the commissioning process went smoothly. Contractual deadlines were not only met but completed ahead of schedule. The comprehensive support provided by the Colines team during delivery and start-up was positively highlighted.
