Chery’s All-New Pickup Weilin R08 to Officially Launch on September 20

Recently, we learned from Chery officials that the all-new Chery pickup, the Weilin R08, will be officially launched on September 20th. The new vehicle had previously started pre-sales at the Chengdu Auto Show, with a pre-sale price range of 88,800 to 151,800 yuan.

In terms of appearance, the new car features a rugged overall design, with a very bold large-size octagonal front grille complemented by horizontal chrome strips inside and split LED headlight groups on both sides, giving it a powerful visual presence. It is worth mentioning that the new car's LED headlights use a flat dual-lens module, equipped with 12 high-power OSRAM LED chips, capable of achieving an ultra-long range of 190 meters and a wide coverage of 33 meters.

The side of the vehicle features a four-door double-row layout, equipped with fixed running boards and scratch-resistant plastic cladding, which not only facilitates getting in and out but also reduces paint damage during daily use. The rear follows the classic design of pickup trucks, with a large rectangular tailgate paired with vertical taillights, giving it a more sporty look. The taillights are designed vertically and treated with a smoked finish, adding a sense of design. In terms of body size, the new vehicle offers both standard and long box options. The standard box model measures 5330mm in length, 1920mm in width, and 1890mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3230mm. The long box model extends the length to 5610mm and has a wheelbase of 3510mm, providing a larger cargo space suitable for heavy-load scenarios.

In terms of interior, the new car focuses on practicality without excessive flashy features, but the basic functions are complete. The center console is equipped with a 15.6-inch central control screen, built with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and has a resolution of 1920×1080. Its functions include WeChat Mini Programs, navigation, HUAWEI HiCar, and more. Additionally, the new car will be equipped with an L2-level intelligent driving assistance system, which includes collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, intelligent cruise assistance, and other features that can effectively enhance driving safety.

In terms of power, the new model will offer two engine options: a 2.3T diesel version and a 2.4L gasoline version. Their maximum power outputs are 120 kW and 118 kW respectively, with peak torque of 420 Nm and 230 Nm. As for the transmission system, the gasoline version is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the diesel version comes with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
