Chery European Brand Unveils New Engine With Efficiency As High As 48%
Fast Technology reported on October 24th that international automotive media announced at the 2025 International User Summit.Chery's Omoda & Jaecoo has launched a combustion engine with an efficiency of up to 48% aimed at the European market.。
Despite electrification remaining the core focus of Chery Group's long-term strategy, Omoda & Jaecoo are also heavily investing in the optimization of traditional internal combustion engines. They believe that in the coming years, hybrid power will continue to be the most practical way to reduce global energy consumption.
From actual use, increasing thermal efficiency by 1% can reduce fuel consumption by about 2.5%.A thermal efficiency of 48% compared to the current industry average of 38% to 45% represents a significant technological breakthrough.。
In addition to improving efficiency, higher thermal performance can directly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, making it a key factor in influencing economic and environmental benefits.
The R&D team of Chery Group is developing a series of groundbreaking innovative technologies.Including a 26:1 ultra-high compression ratio, a three-link double-curve mechanism, a 35% exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rate, and advanced thermal insulation coatings.
These technologies work together to both reduce heat loss and enhance the combustion cycle efficiency, laying the foundation for a new generation of efficient hybrid engines.
At the summit, Omoda&Jaecoo also highlighted the practical application results of the existing Super Hybrid System (SHS).This system combines a 1.5TDGI engine using the Miller cycle with two electric motors and an intelligent DHT transmission, achieving a thermal efficiency of up to 44.5%, with a minimum fuel consumption of only 6 liters per 100 kilometers.。
The Super Hybrid System (SHS) can automatically adjust the driving mode based on speed and load conditions, balancing performance and efficiency. It is also equipped with an advanced safety system that can cut off the power within 2 milliseconds in the event of a collision.
In addition,The system also has a pure electric range of 56 miles (approximately 90 kilometers) and supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, with a maximum power output of up to 3.3 kilowatts.。
