Recently, Maoming Petrochemical's "A Method for Preparing High Viscosity Index Polyalphaolefin" was granted authorization by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This patent marks the first time that Maoming Petrochemical’s mPAO (metallocene polyalphaolefin) technology has received an overseas authorized patent, and it is also the company’s second patent authorized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In 2016, Maoming Petrochemical, guided by national strategic needs, formed an innovation team to carry out independent research and development of the core production technology for high viscosity index lubricating oil base oil mPAO. After seven years of arduous effort, they developed a complete mPAO technology with independent intellectual property rights and possess the only domestic pilot plant capable of producing a series of medium-high and ultra-high viscosity mPAO products, filling the gap in domestic mPAO production technology. The product performance is comparable to that of foreign counterparts and is applied in the wind power sector, helping Sinopec become the second company in the world capable of producing ultra-high viscosity mPAO.

Over the past three years, the company's innovation team has advanced the production process technology through dedicated efforts, continuously and successfully developing seven series of products. These products outperform imported ones in various metrics, contributing to the accelerated development of the national new energy industry.

The international patent authorization demonstrates that the mPAO technology of Maoming Petrochemical has gained international recognition for its innovation, providing a legal protective shield. Through international patent layout, it will help Maoming Petrochemical overcome technical trade barriers and clear obstacles for the products to enter overseas markets.
