International distributor Biesterfeld will gain additional distribution rights for BASF's Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) materials. Starting April 1, 2025, Biesterfeld will exclusively handle the distribution of these materials in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Baltic countries. As a result, Biesterfeld now has distribution rights for the entire EMEA region except for the United Kingdom and Ireland.

One of the main characteristics of Elastollan® thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (TPU) is their excellent mechanical properties. They have outstanding abrasion resistance, tear resistance, and tensile strength. These materials also exhibit excellent oil resistance, grease resistance, oxidation resistance, and ozone resistance, as well as high flexibility in cold environments and exceptional cushioning capabilities. The product range includes various combinations of polyester and polyether TPU, as well as different hardness levels (Shore 45 A to 83 D) of light-stabilized aliphatic TPU and transparent grades of TPU. The range also includes TPU-based additives and masterbatches, as well as harder glass fiber reinforced and flame-retardant grades.

The performance of the material varies according to its possible applications: Elastollan® can be extruded to form tubing, cable sheathing, belts, films, and profiles, and can also be blow molded or injection molded. Therefore, these polymers are used in fields such as automotive, wires and cables, construction, industrial applications, home appliances, sports equipment, as well as textiles and footwear.
