Amcor and Flügger Develop Eye-Catching 50% PCR Plastic Paint Containers
Amcor collaborates with Flügger on a new, more energy-efficient, and more attractive paint container made from 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, featuring a custom blue closely associated with the Flügger brand identity.
The new container is part of Flügger's strategic goal to reduce the use of virgin plastics by increasing the proportion of recycled materials in packaging, without compromising product quality or user experience. It also meets the requirements of various voluntary labeling schemes, such as the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which is widely used in Scandinavia.
Designed with recycling and quality in mind.
Flügger has used this new container in its product range, serving both professional painters and private customers. Casper Paggio Hansson Felt, Flügger's Communication and Culture Manager, stated: "We want a solution that offers both quality and visual appeal, while also being made from recycled materials. Using 50% PCR is a natural choice—it's a proven packaging solution that we have already used for other products, developed in partnership with Amcor, and it helps us meet the requirements of eco-label programs."
In addition to meeting functionality and recyclability goals, the new container also supports brand recognition. It helps enhance the recognition of the Flügger brand with its unique blue design and colorful lid.
"The feedback from consumers and our retail partners has been very positive - especially regarding the colors," said Casper Paggio Hansson Felt.Blue containers have visual appeal, and different colored lids help users quickly identify the correct type of paint, which adds practical value, especially for our professional customers.
For many years, Amcor has been a trusted packaging partner for Flügger, and this long-term collaboration has played an important role in developing new solutions.
“Amcor understands our needs and is able to provide high-quality solutions, which has made a real impact.Casper Paggio Hansson Felt said. That is why they are the right partners for this transformation.
The new container will be launched in the fall of 2024 and has been released in Flügger's markets in Europe and Asia.
