A Solution Emerges for the Safety Challenges of Hybrid Vehicles
When eight steel needles with a diameter of 5mm simultaneously pierced and penetrated the battery cell, it was left to rest for one hour without any occurrence of fire, explosion, or smoke throughout the process, and the voltage of the cell remained stable.
This is the real scene of the Shendun Gold Brick Battery 8-pin simultaneous insertion test demonstration at the Jiyao Tong Quzhou production base on August 27.
As an important method for testing the safety of power batteries, the national standard for nail penetration thermal runaway tests only requires one nail, while the aforementioned test for the Shendun Jinbrick battery exceeds the national standard by more than eight times.
On April 23 this year, Geely integrated its battery business and established Zhejiang Jiyao Tongxing Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Jiyao Tongxing"). Jiyao Tongxing regards safety as the lifeline of battery cells and has built a "military-grade" safety assurance system through rigorous control across the entire chain of research and development, manufacturing, and testing.

In the R&D phase, Jiyou Tongxing focuses on material innovation and optimization as its core defense line, pioneering ultra-thin, highly heat-resistant separators that significantly enhance the cell’s high-temperature tolerance. In manufacturing, Jiyou Tongxing possesses the industry’s largest and most advanced short-blade battery production capacity, safeguarding cell safety with stringent standards. Taking the Quzhou facility—Zhejiang’s first Level-4 intelligent manufacturing factory—as an example, it creates a “quality moat” through 18 core processes. In testing, beyond the 8-needle simultaneous penetration simulating multi-point puncture risks, there are also extreme scenarios such as a 36-ton tank crushing test to replicate severe compression, and a 5.56mm live round penetration test to simulate impact accidents under extreme conditions.
Previously, Jiyao Traffic unified the existing Jinzhuan Battery and Shendun Short Knife Battery under the Shendun Jinzhuan Battery brand. Currently, the Shendun Jinzhuan Battery's existing products include three series: Super Fast Charge, High Energy Density, and Super Hybrid, covering both pure electric and hybrid platforms. This achieves full-stack in-house research and production from battery cells to battery packs.
It is worth noting that hybrid models, due to their characteristics of "high-frequency charging and discharging and complex operating conditions," place greater emphasis on the balance between safety and performance. In response to these characteristics, Jiyao Tongxing has launched the Golden Brick Cell Super Hybrid series, which is also its first hybrid cell product.

The BRICS battery cell super hybrid series is reported to have "four super qualities" of ultra-safety, ultra-fast charging, ultra-high rate, and ultra-long lifespan, accurately addressing user pain points and providing a dedicated solution for solving safety and performance challenges in the hybrid industry.
For example, to address the urgent scenario where consumers “need to use the car temporarily but the battery isn’t fully charged,” the BRICS Super Hybrid Battery Series not only offers fast charging from 10% to 80%, but also, thanks to its pioneering intelligent super-frequency terminal fast-charging technology, achieves full fast charging from 10% to 100%.
To address the issue of "power weakness" in hybrid vehicles during low battery conditions, which affects the driving experience of consumers, the BRICS Battery Super Hybrid Series utilizes multi-particle size compounding technology to optimize ion transport channels, achieving a maximum discharge rate of 21.02C. This ensures stable and strong power output even when the battery level is below 20%.
In addition, the high-frequency charge and discharge characteristics of hybrid models place higher demands on battery cell lifespan. The Jinbrick battery cell super hybrid series achieves a stable SEI film structure, with a cycle life of up to 4500 cycles, maintaining excellent performance even after driving one million kilometers. According to the data, its lifespan performance is 40% higher than the industry average, achieving the long-term usage effect of one generation of batteries over two generations of vehicles.
