Recently, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Seventh Bureau won the bid for a package of projects including the new construction, expansion, and renovation of straw sugar and bio-aviation fuel for Anhui Fengyuan Group, with a signed contract price of 1.439 billion yuan.

The project is located in Bengbu City, Anhui Province, with a total construction area of approximately 200,000 square meters. The main construction content includes the integrated design, construction, and procurement of factories, production workshops, and office buildings. Upon completion, the project will fully create a modern park for the green energy industry, promote the cluster development of the regional bio-materials industry, and further consolidate the leading position of local green energy industry leaders in the high-end manufacturing sector.

According to public information, Fengyuan Group began laying out its biomass energy - straw ethanol project as early as 2006 and has built a thousand-ton industrialization demonstration line. After years of technological accumulation and continuous innovation, it has fully mastered the low-cost and high-efficiency production technology for straw ethanol, as well as the technology for producing sustainable aviation fuel using ethanol as a raw material. Fengyuan Group's layout for sustainable aviation fuel stems from technological confidence and optimism about the future prospects of the industry.
Relying on Fengyuan Group's advanced straw-to-sugar co-production of fulvic acid technology, mixed sugar and fulvic acid can be produced from straw, and then fuel ethanol can be produced from the mixed sugar.

On July 11, 2024, Huang Xiaowu, Party Secretary of Bengbu City, held a working discussion with Yu Feng, President of Honeywell China, and witnessed the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Honeywell and Anhui Fuyuan Group. Municipal leaders Guo Jiaman and Ge Rui, and Li Rongjie, Chairman of Anhui Fuyuan Group, attended the event.

Compared to traditional aviation fuel, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 80%, making it crucial for the global aviation industry to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In July 2024, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) announced the provision of standard evaluation services for SAF producers through the EU SAF Information Exchange Hub to support the expansion of SAF usage. In September 2024, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced the launch of the Matchmaker platform to connect airlines and SAF suppliers.
