OUR STORY 幽玄– YUUGEN Translation : An awareness of the universe. Its meaning is “subtle grace” or “mysterious profundity.” “An awareness of the nature of the universe that’s too deep and mysterious for words – the oneness of all things – to the point where it affects you emotionally.” We are a husband and wife team and we launched our business in 2020. We wanted to create products that were kinder to the environment with a stronger and longer lasting fragrance than anything else we’d tried on the market. We have been crafting and creating candles since 2010. We use a plant based wax which is free from palm, beeswax, paraffin, soy, dyes and additives. Our wicks are lead-free and and are made from pure cotton and linen with paper cores. Our wax melts are infused with dried botanicals which have been grown from our own garden at home. Everything is made by hand by us in our studio in Manchester. Our fragrances are inspired by our time travelling. Many of our fragrances were inspired from the markets & souks from around The Middle East or the deep, mossy greens of the Japanese forests and the unforgettable scents from the ancient wood shrines and temples. We wanted to be able to share those special memories and feelings that traveling gives us. We put a lot of thought into our products, we love creating intriguing scents based on our travels and memories of them.
