Xiwuqi King of The Grasslands & Marathon Challenge

The Xiwuqi King of the Grasslands Challenge is the successor of the Genghis Khan Festival, which was first organised in 2007 and by 2019 had reached cult status. It consisted of two different sports disciplines: mountainbiking and cross country running. As of 2013, together they made up the iconic King of the Grasslands Challenge (KOG). Following the covid crisis the event had to be rebranded and redesigned and as of 2023 also offers competitions for road cyclists, road runners and duathletes. All competitions take place in and through the grasslands surrounding Xiwuqi town and cater for all levels of athletes as shorter distances are also available. This remains a unique event in China.
