Barcodes serve as data carriers for a wide variety of information. The data from the barcodes enters the systems through machine reading. The advantage of a barcode is that the data can be transported to a wide variety of systems very quickly and securely. GS1 symbol specifications, for example, are an application standard with Data content identifiers to transport data via special GS1 codes. These are data such as manufacturer, GLN, MHD, batches, quantity, weight, packing date and much more, which are ideally suited for coordination in the logistics area.
