Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility, formerly known as the Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, is a British Columbian non-profit organization. We are dedicated to creating a society where people who are Deaf, Deafened, Deafblind, and Hard of Hearing can fully participate. Individuals continue to face daily challenges and contend with issues of exclusion in the workforce, education, and public life because of communication barriers. Wavefront Centre provides supportive programs that focus on strengths and talents rather than barriers. Wavefront Centre’s mission is to create a society in which people who are Deaf, Deafened, Deafblind, and Hard of Hearing can fully participate. Our vision is a compassionate and inclusive British Columbia where all Canadians can communicate fully and have equal access to their communities. Our Communication Devices Showroom is the only place in British Columbia that displays a large range of devices and offers one-on-one consultations. We assist individuals in becoming comfortable with their devices, and provide house calls for installation, employer meetings, and community presentations to raise awareness about new technologies.
