As part of the Heritage Conservation journey, when Chandrasekaran, a plastics technologist visited villages in Tamilnadu for temple renovation, he witnessed the critical needs for clean water and sanitation among the village residents. These were the seeds for his idea to build affordable purifiers and ready-to-fit toilets to cater the rural population. Leveraging an IMMT-CSIR license, the Terafil water purifier was developed, alongside toilets crafted from waste glass fibers, reducing environmental impact. Initially these products were built under the name of Custom Parts Online, Chandrasekaran's proprietary firm and the focus remained on rural India, where 73% of the population resides, grappling with water and sanitation challenges. Recognizing the need for concerted efforts, Chandrasekaran and PN Subramanian co-founded WATSAN in 2013, dedicated to sustainable solutions. Since then, accolades have affirmed our commitment to eco-friendly essentials, driving nationwide impact in accessible water and sanitation solutions. To improve the living standards and ensure a dignified, happy and healthy life for at least 100 million families across the world, within the next five years, by providing sustainable water and sanitation solutions.
