We take a modern approach to the development of (and with) machine vision software, in the interest of our customers, who benefit from the automation of processes previously deemed impossible economically, and in the interest of system integrators, to whom we provide access to the latest vision technology without requiring expert knowledge. Full autonomy is the ultimate goal of industrial automation. Vision technology is inarguably a crucial ingredient in making this goal a reality. The evaluation of visual cues will enable a robot to attain a sufficient understanding of its environment and to execute innumerable tasks without intervention from a human operator. So why do we see so little proliferation of machine vision in contemporary automation systems? The simple answer is that machine vision is complex and comes with significant risks for system integrators, unless they employ a staff of dedicated engineers, providing services such as connecting hardware, labeling training data, deploying AI-models, tuning parameters, etc. We believe that most of these services that drive the cost of machine vision in industrial automation can be made superfluous or also be automated. "AI-based image analysis is fundamental to advancing the entire field of industrial automation in the years to come. We make it accessible to a broad range of developers and integrators in its most modern form." Jonathan Balzer CTO, Vathos GmbH Integrators should enjoy maximal freedom in selecting the right hardware and software components for solving a task at hand. The deployment and configuration of software components must be accessible even to the non-expert at low cost and risk so that integrators can focus on their core business — selection and integration of those components into a functional overall system. In the age of the Internet of Things, we must tear down the barrier between the IT and OT layer. A machine vision system needs to be able to share the wealth of visual information it collects with other solutions monitoring or controlling the shop floor. We do not want to offer an isolated solution, we want to offer open interfaces for the flexible connection of third-party systems (API Readiness).
