Ultrascale Products

Ultrascale is the name under which a range of 4mm scale items for modelling British outline steam and diesel locomotives is produced. This range includes items for 'OO' Fine scale, E.M. or 18.83 gauges. Also available is a range of gears suitable for various scales and applications. A new way to produce gears is currently under investigation. More details to follow. We have designed and developed a number of gear based mobile apps to help in the Setting up, Production and Checking of the gears. These apps are available for both iPhone and Android devices. This range includes the most common locomotive and rolling stock wheels and conversion packs for proprietary, ready to run locomotives. Most of these items can be supplied for either 'OO' Fine scale, E.M. or 18.83 gauges. All items are produced to order, using manual production processes, which means that lead times can be long. (see 'Current Production Status' below) Following my last posting here in regard to my workshop lease coming to an end and therefore, having to dispose of some of the large machines, including the gear hobber, so I could move to a smaller workshop area, I started having a clear out. In doing so I came across a project that my father started on in 1971 and I also did some work on in 1998. But never got around to finishing. The wagon has been produced using various materials and production processes. drawings, photos and other data to produce the wagon are sourced from a very useful publication 'Private Owner Wagons from the Ince Waggon & Ironworks Co' by A. J. Watts and published by The Historical Model Railway Society. Dapol Streamlined RailcarThis was a customer commissioned job to convert the model to EM gauge. An 18.83 gauge set has also been done for this model.
