Learn more about our family. The idea: Inspired by a baroness from Hungary, Dr Alexander Grupp decides to invest in the packaging of long-life products. In tubes. A visionary decision. July 3, 1947 The foundation: Aluminium is the material of choice from the very beginning. Back then, the production process took 3 to 4 days. Today, it takes 20 minutes. 1948 First milestone: 250 employees produce 23 million tubes in various sizes. Today, over 300 employees produce approx. 500 million cans per year. 1952 Progress: Line production is made possible by a new factory in Rangendingen – which is expanded continuously, and still in use today. 1956 Germany’s legendary brands of the 70s position themselves with colourful designs created at TUBEX. In addition, with a lot of inventive talent, TUBEX developed the aluminium bottles of the 50s to create an aluminium can coated inside and out: the world’s first monobloc aerosol can! With its many advantages, it rapidly became a bestseller in the packaging market. 1970s: The cans get colourful Beiersdorf wants the impossible: aerosol cans shaped according to design. Only TUBEX succeeds, after many attempts, in producing aluminium cans with a “waist” – thus opening up a new dimension for customers’ marketing strategies. 2005 TUBEX is the first (and to date only) manufacturer to offer internal powder-coating– a great advantage, as this coating is solvent-free. 2008 Sustainable and visionary: TUBEX develops the first aerosol can made of aluminium with 20 % recycled material. 2009 A logical step for logistics: TUBEX invests in a warehouse of approx. 10,000 pallets at its site in Rangendingen. This ensures consistent can quality, and eliminates the need for stock transfers. 2013 Purity: The world’s first can that can be produced without any inner or outer coating. Products that do not require an inner coating are eco-friendlier. The same goes for the production at TUBEX. 2016 Brilliant idea: TUBEX present the world’s first can whose design is printed entirely with natural inks. 2021 We’re happy to answer your questions about aerosol cans as a packaging solution.
