TRI-HAUT POUR L'EVEREST

We are a student association in engineering school at Grenoble INP ENSE3, (National School of Energy, Water and Environment) and Grenoble INP Phelma (Physics Electronics and Materials) and architects from ENSAG. Our common passion for mountain sports and our desire to commit to a sustainable world have brought us together in a common project: Tri’Haut pour l’Everest. The Khumbu region, with its many 8,000 meter peaks, including the roof of the world, Everest, is conducive to many high-altitude treks that generate significant amounts of waste. Despite efforts to limit pollution in base camps this decade, many wastes, mainly plastics, end up directly in Nepalese rivers. Our objective is to integrate the waste management plan of the local organization SPCC (Sagarmatha Pollution control committee) by providing an infrastructure to provide a sustainable solution to the problem of plastic waste in this region. Tri-Haut pour l’Everest is a project based on different pillars: Environmental, as it aims to fight against the pollution of the many plastic wastes produced by the villagers and tourist expeditions in this region. Human, due to an important collaboration with the local populations and the competent authorities on the spot such as the SPCC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee) Educational with the implementation of an awareness space for residents and tourists on environmental risks. As well as by writing preventive articles and making a film on the progress of our project.
