Bringing the Worlds oldest board game to contemporary society, working towards a brighter future through play. THE OWARE SOCIETY We are an organisation dedicated to the playing and promotion of Oware an ancient African Mathematical Board Game. Get in Touch We conduct workshops in schools, libraries, youth and community centres, museums etc. These can range from two hours to a whole day or more. These have proved very popular in the past. Learn more about our work by getting in touch with our team today. With our organization’s mission always in mind, we conduct competitions and tournaments both in the UK and abroad. Every year we host a UK Open Championship, an International Awale Tournament in Cannes, France as well as support various competitions in different parts of the world. Contact us to learn more about our commitment to this cause. We host monthly playing sessions on the third Sunday of every month at Mwalimu Express, Rich Mix 35 -47 Bethnal Green Road. In the summer months we can be found at various outside events. These session provide a friendly environment where members of the public can come and learn to play or regular players can practice The Oware Society was set up to organise the various Oware (associate groups) into a world wide organisation with clubs, associations, federations and a world governing body (World Oware Federation - WOF)
