Regardless of wick type; crackling wooden wick or cotton wick, your wick should be trimmed to 1/4 of an inch before each use. The first lighting of a candle should be lit for a minimum of two hours. If there is soot on your jar, please clean your jar with soap and water; rubbing alcohol can be used to remove soot and wax safely.
