Discovering birds & the people who pursue them! Birding is so much more than a hobby, it's a lifestyle! You start off innocently thinking that you will just look at a few birds a week - and then the bug really bites big time! Before you know it, your bank account starts to be stretched, and weekend sleep-ins are a thing of history, as you look to wake up early to chase after these 'little flying creatures'. There is nothing more satisfying than a good cup of coffee, with good friends, listening to the dawn sunrise song under the African skies (or whichever sky you watch your birds under)! This website is dedicated to this crazy lifestyle that we call birding! It's a lot more than just a page about chasing birds and adding more birds to a 'life list'. This website is about getting to know the people that make up this birding community, learning more about birds (and how to conserve them), and along the way finding some amazing birds. This journey is not only our story, it's your story. If birding is not your passion yet, we hope you enjoy the site, and just maybe one day we will be sharing your story on this website. Conservation will always be a core value of The Birding Life. We are passionate about conserving birds and the environment that they are found in. From the outset of this project, there has always been a desire to raise awareness around various conservation issues and projects. We have hope that our contribution will leave a legacy for the generations to come, and hopefully change the world for the better. We are looking to help connect people with birds and with others in the birding community. We believe that it is through our collective voice that we can make a significant impact in and around things that truly matter. We are looking for so much more than just an online platform, we hope to create community around our shared passion for birds and nature. We are looking to work alongside those who are already doing projects in conservation. We won’t look to start that which others are already doing, but instead will seek to partner with these organisations and people that are already doing a significant work, to help them make an even greater impact. We will look to create awareness around not only the work that we are doing, but also the work that other conservation organisations are doing.
