Together for a circular agriculture A perspective for the future The farming community is under pressure and a future perspective does not seem to emerge within the established paths. It has to change, but not only by the farmer. We, as farmers and citizens, are all responsible for the current situation and must create a perspective for the future together. A healthy future arises from a local perspective. A local network that supports farmers, citizens, and nature. We look at what is there, what initiatives already exist? How are these initiatives connected? Are there good relationships or is there room for improvement? And it is precisely with these (improved) relationships that we are able to organize the real local potential for a profitable and circular local chain model. Are we going to reinvent everything? No, certainly not. However, we will learn to look at the challenges ahead of us in a different way. For this, we first bring to light what already exists. We physically bring it together to reframe it from a different perspective based on new relationships, within which people can strengthen or support each other. From this collective, we determine our next steps, so that we are not separately realizing the same steps. And besides what already exists, we look together at what is still needed to strengthen the network. In this way, we choose our starting position from which we can tackle various themes. Demonstrating is a moment in the present. Innovating together and self-organizing is the future. Relationships are the contracts of the future For a healthy future for farmer, citizen, animal, and nature, change is necessary. We must break old patterns together. Focus on local relationships based on trust and co-creation. Collaborate on a local earning model with shared values of farmers and citizens. Together we bring all the puzzle pieces (the existing partial solutions) together to make this a fitting puzzle. To make the puzzle fit, everyone must take their role in the collaboration. How can we form new relationships? Who will join us and align with our story, so we can collaborate and unite as citizens? A local network; transparent in what you organize together A local network is created with people who want to play a role in realizing a new cooperative model, regardless of their function, expertise, or organization. Everyone who wants to contribute to making this model transparent and reliable is welcome. Together with them, we will shape our first local experiment. On a small scale, establishing a new cooperative model. A process in which we can learn how to do it, how to improve it, and how to ultimately make it scalable. What is your role? How can you participate and what role is there for you? We organize this in the Innovation Circles. Each Innovation Circle focuses on a specific theme or problem for which they want to organize a solution. Solutions to complex challenges come best when parties can transcend their interests and commit themselves to the collective overarching interest through multiple relationships. For this, we use three roles, which allow us to move from a one-sided relationship (2 parties) to multiple relationships. A role, therefore, does not concern a job title, organizational interest, or any other entity. We look with the participants of the Innovation Circle at how we think to realize the collective interest and how we must organize ourselves. What steps are necessary to reach a solution, and which roles facilitate ensuring that the steps can be taken without potential friction when thinking from the perspective of party interests. The role or roles that fit your ambition, competence, or interest can be filled by you. In this model, you should be able to play every role. Following a good mapping of the ‘journey’ to the solution, we will gather in a workshop which roles are applicable and at which steps they play an essential ‘role’ in ensuring progress, without possible friction when thinking from party interests.
