In our quest to understand the needs of horses and the factors impacting their quality of life, we discovered that horses were not willing to lie down in their stalls. They were uncomfortable and less well-rested as a result. Traditional stall flooring did not provide enough cushion or protection from moisture and cold temperatures. Our horses deserve better.
We worked with equine experts and practitioners, and discovered horses are hesitant to lay down and, in many cases, refuse to lay down if their flooring is too unforgiving. This discomfort is even more pronounced for horses of advanced age or with lameness issues. Without quality sleep, their quality of life is impacted.
