Sport Orthotics Scotland are an award winning team of HCPC registered Orthotists and Podiatrists, who are specialists in biomechanical assessments, insoles/orthotics and orthopaedic bracing for the entire body. Our Orthotic and biomechanics clinics are based in The Treatment Hub Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. We also have clinics across Scotland including, Aberdeen, Ayr, Edinburgh, Dundee, Doune and  Glasgow city centre dedicated orthotics and biomechanical assessments. We provide biomechanical assessment and orthotic clinics at each of our Hamilton, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Dundee, Doune and Ayr based clinics. Our satellite clinics across the country allow us to provide a service to the rest of Scotland and reduce the need for travel for people across Scotland. This specialist orthotic and biomechanics clinic started in 2007 undertaking  private biomechanical assessment and orthotic clinics primarily for runners in Athelite running shop in Hamilton. The service for runners quickly expanded and provided biomechanical assessments and orthotics for patient who wish to walk and go about their daily activities with general aches and pains to patients with complex neurological problems. The team were one of the first private biomechanical assessment clinics with their own on site lab and have been leaders in the field of clinical biomechanical assessment for many years. The Glasgow clinic was first started in 2015 in the Finnieston area of Glasgow. The Glasgow clinic has evolved and grown and moved to La Belle Place, near the Park circus area of Glasgow overlooking Kelvingrove Park. It is situated close to Charing Cross and a short walk from Glasgow city centre. The Glasgow biomechanics clinic is a custom built facility with force plates pressure mat, 2 camera gait analysis treadmill, digital scanning technology with patients able to be involved in the custom design of their 3d printed orthotics Our clinic in Ayr is set within a Physiotherapy clinic (Move Better) and allows joint consultation with physiotherapy. Our main Orthotic and biomechanics clinics are based in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire and also our Glasgow city centre dedicated orthotics and biomechanical assessment clinic (in Finnieston around 100 metres from Charing Cross). We still manufacture orthotics using the traditional approach using our orthotic lab. As such we still take plaster casts within our biomechanics clinics to manufacture your prescription. Our preference is to take a non-weight bearing cast, in order to control the biomechanics of the foot and ankle in walking or running. A biomechanical assessment is a specialist assessment undertaken to assess the mechanics of movement to establish possible causes for aches, pains and discomfort of the body. The biomechanical assessment is done to understand the root cause of problems to understand the correct approach to treating these problems.
