Our story began in 1979. Back then, working out of a small barn in Northern Ireland, we supplied conveyor belts to local quarries and mines. Today, our belts don’t just carry rocks - the reputations of the biggest manufacturers of materials processing equipment are on there too, and it’s our vision is to be the No. 1 partner in this mobile equipment world, by staying close to our customers and solving their problems. We produce endless conveyor belts, cut rubber and plastic parts for the materials processing equipment manufacturing sector. Serving OEMs in 10 key segments: construction & demolition, recycling & waste management, quarrying, mining, washing systems, agricultural, environmental, conveyor fabricators, road construction and port material handling. We routinely test the abrasion resistance, tensile strength and adhesion levels of both the cover rubber and fabric plies of our raw materials and finished products in our well equipped labs, to ensure conformity to DIN, ISO and Smiley Monroe standards. In partnership with the world renowned Polymer Processing Research Centre in Queen's University Belfast and leading-edge suppliers, we have both the expertise and facilities to protect our customers. Our UK operations are powered by 100% renewable energy. 1979: Smiley & Monroe founded by Mark Smiley and Vaughan Monroe. 1986: First exports to quarries in Great Britain of our in-house manufactured synthetic screen media. 1997: First exports to North America of our industrial rubber products. 2000: Achieve ISO 9001 Quality Management accreditation. 2002: £1.2 million investment in new purpose-built production facility. 2007: Export accounts for 8% of total revenue. 2008: £400,000 investment in equipment. 2012: Smiley Monroe India launches in Hosur. 2014: £800,000 investment in new global distribution Hub. 2017: Export accounts for 35% of our business. 2020: Established Smiley Monroe Inc. to be closer to our American Customers.
