SmartWound focuses on early detection infection. We work closely with clinical colleagues specialising in infection in: acute wounds; burn care (adult and children); leg ulcers; diabetic foot ulcers.
SmartWound is translating laboratory innovation to the clinic, to benefit patients. The aim is to create cost-effective and clinically effective devices that help prevent the over-use of antibiotics and AMR (antimicrobial resistance).
The technologies have evolved from the Biophysical Chemistry group at the University of Bath, led by Professor Toby Jenkins, where the group applies research and methods in Chemistry, Materials Science and Microbiology to improve human health and treatment of wound, bladder and skin.
