As a family-owned business for over 40 years, SIRAL is a leader in innovations related to roller shutters and sun protection. All products manufactured by SIRAL are produced at the site in Welzheim, Germany, and are delivered to customers in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. The focus of SIRAL is on quality. To meet these high standards, SIRAL consciously does not rely on full automation but rather on a partially automated production process in which each employee is continuously involved in the production process and maintains control. This philosophy not only secures important jobs at the Welzheim production site but also enables flexible responses to OEM products according to the needs and wishes in the industry. SIRAL first became known in the roller shutter and sun protection industry through the invention of the safety and insulation spring, which replaced the then-common belt connection between the roller shutter shaft and the roller shutter fabric. This connection technology has become a standard in the industry. The next stage of shaft connectors was also invented by SIRAL: the rigid shaft connector. The patented SIRAL spring block safety with 800N upward protection per block spring was the first rigid connection of its kind. This is used for burglary protection as an upward safety device and is generally required with today’s modern roller shutter drives with torque cutoff. The consistent further development of the SIRAL roller shutter motor caused a stir at the time. The first run-on brake protection (ABS motor) protected in the downward direction as a mechanical obstacle detection from larger damages. Shortly thereafter, a new motor type from SIRAL came onto the market, which provided gentle obstacle detection in the downward direction and simultaneously a gentle stop upwards – the S-ABS (Soft) motor. Both motor types have since undergone further improvements, are still produced today, and are favored due to their long lifespan. In the last decade, alongside special motors, modern electronic drives have also been introduced. The electronic tubular motors alone cover a wide range with or without integrated radio receivers, with electronic obstacle detection in both directions, frost protection, freely selectable end position shutdown at the installation site, integration into smart home/home automation control, and plug-and-play drives. This knowledge, acquired and consistently implemented over decades, enables OEM-specific designs even for roller shutter drives today. The SIRAL product range is complemented by many other products with unique features. From belt winders in partially very narrow designs and highly abrasion-resistant housings, to belt and cord guide rollers with the smoothest needle bearings, various redirecting systems for complicated construction projects, to the simplest innovations for burglary protection such as the original clamp safety from SIRAL. It is no coincidence that for technically problematic construction projects, inquiries are first made to SIRAL to see if there are existing or feasible solutions that may not be found in the standard catalog.
