HOW DID SIGNED BY CHARLOTTE BEGIN? I've always had a passion for creativity, with Art & Design being my favourite subjects at school. I studied Textile Design at Loughborough University, before spending 10 years as a Garment Technologist in the fashion industry.  While I enjoyed my job, I often craved a more creative outlet.  Everything changed when I bought my first calligraphy kit; evenings and weekends soon became devoted to practicing and developing my style, and I fell in love with it's relaxing and meditative process. Calligraphy became my creative escape and I was hooked! WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? In 2018, my now-husband proposed, setting us on an exciting wedding planning journey. We knew we wanted our wedding signs and stationery to be unique and personal to us, matching the vibe of our big day. I loved creating everything myself and it was incredible to see our ideas come to life, knowing they were exactly how we wanted. Our wedding at The West Mill in Darley Abbey, Derbyshire, was the most special day, and I often find myself looking back through photos to re-live that magical day. After our wedding, friends and family loved the hand-painted chalkboards I created, with some asking me to design signs for their own weddings. It was through these requests and the positive feedback that the idea of Signed By Charlotte came about.  I began offering hand-painted chalkboard and wooden wedding signs, which remain at the heart of my business. Whilst my style and calligraphy have evolved since those early days, my core belief remains unchanged: Your wedding day is a reflection of your unique love story, and your signs and stationery should be personal to you. That's why each of my products are bespoke, all tailored to your vision.  PRESENT DAY In 2024, I introduced printed stationery items that tie back to my wedding signs through the use of digitalised calligraphy. This process includes writing the words in traditional nib and ink calligraphy, before scanning them into my graphic design software and turning them into digital images that can be re-created on invitations and save-the-dates.  No two of my signs are alike -  not just because they're individually hand-written, but because the design and wording are curated to resonate with you and your love story, to ensure they capture the essence of your special day. Whether you prefer a formal tone or more causal approach, I will work closely with you to understand your requirements; this collaborative process ensures the final products are not only beautiful to look at, but personal to you too.  Ready to elevate your big day?
