We welcome the initiative in Germany, where part of the solution to this situation is the retreading of tires. AZUR Netzwerk (the innovation forum for used tire recycling) sets the following goal: Retreaded tires must become standard like recycled paper or recycled plastic. The proportion should rise again to 40% in the commercial vehicle sector within a period of 5 years. Retreading is a prime example of the circular economy "" the comprehensive circular economy from sustainable product design to waste prevention to reuse and recycling. Together with our partners who take care of the disposal of used tires, our mission is to create a better world with a fine sense of environmental protection. Tires where only the tread is worn, which are also completely without damage, are ideal for retreading. We only use used tires in production where the carcasses are in very good condition. This industry helps to reduce oil consumption by saving the EU 500,000 tons of oil annually. In addition to high quality standards for our products and services, environmental protection is an important part of our business. Retreaded tires are a cheaper alternative to brand new models. Automobil Club Verkehr mentions the following advantages in the area of retreaded tires: * save up to 50 percent of the purchase costs. * Especially those who buy retreaded winter tires save money * Just like with new tires, there is a two-year guarantee on retreaded tires. * In addition, retreading old tires is more sustainable than producing brand new car tires: around 80 percent of crude oil and 70 percent of energy can be saved. As a disadvantage, we ourselves recognize that it is difficult to build all tires on an identical carcass. The profile is identical, but the substructure can come from different manufacturers and then each wheel has different suspension and handling properties.
