OceanMission™ is Lavergne’s commitment to the circular economy and helping to reduce the amount of plastics that end up in our oceans. We support local communities in collecting ocean-bound plastic by buying that plastic and transforming it into a recycled plastic resin that can be used as raw material in the manufacturing of new products. OceanMission™, a Lavergne Initiative, supports a circular economy. We help our customers shift from the traditional, linear economy where products are made, purchased, used, and then disposed of to a circular model, where materials are recovered and repurposed at the end of their life. Lavergne is working in Haiti and across the globe transforming post-consumer plastics for manufacturers in the automotive, consumer electronics and appliance industries. Renewal is at the heart of what we do. We believe the world has already produced enough plastic to fulfill its needs for a long time to come. We work to improve the well-being of the collectors and collection site workers in our supply chain by creating a market for their collected plastic. In 2016 we began our work in Haiti which has already supported more that 1,200 income opportunities for individual collectors. OceanMission™ offers high quality, customized resins (rPET, rHDPE, rPP), made from ocean-bound plastic validated by third-party UL 2809 certification by UL (Underwriter’s Laboratory Environmental) and transparency of its end-to-end process. We do this by managing the full supply chain from collection to transformation of plastic and testing in our quality assurance laboratory certified to ISO/IEC 17025 standards. Every customer is provided with a certificate of analysis. Lavergne has built a new plastic washing line in Haiti that will allow it to produce cleaner, higher quality recycled plastic locally for use in high-end products. The wash line will allow us to divert 3 types of plastics from the ocean: PET, HDPE, PP which will be branded OceanMission™ .
