Welcome to the Website of the Frey Research Group\nResearch Topics\nOur research aims at convenient and rapid synthetic pathways for novel functional polymers. The targeted materials play a role in a variety of different applications, ranging from bioconjugation and novel lipid structures to catalysis and advanced batteries. A special emphasis has been placed on polyether and polyester chemistry as well as on the incorporation of branching points in general. Furthermore, the anionic polymerization of carbon hydrate monomers and silicon-based polymer chemistry are studied intensely. Major achievements of the research group in recent years include for instance the development of hyperbranched poly(ethylene glycol), hyperbranched polyglycolide and a variety of functional PEGs for biomedical applications as well as tapered multiblock copolymer structures with exceptional mechanical properties.
