Surface protection for trade and industry Coating is a surface protection measure that results in continuous, even layers on the concrete surface and filled pores. Coatings require at least a primer and, in the case of larger pores, unevenness and other imperfections, a scratch or leveling filler. Depending on the application, certain requirements of the wear layer are necessary: good water vapor permeability and high resistance to carbon dioxide diffusion Heat resistance (according to ZTV-BEL-B) grip chemical resistance conductivity cleaning possibility crack bridging wear resistance Combinations of these properties may be required and can be achieved with special coating systems, e.g. B. for water protection according to the WHG and the LAU system ordinance. Here, under certain circumstances, coatings are required that are both crack-bridging, chemical-resistant and electrically conductive. The recommended approach Primer The primer is not an independent surface protection measure. It represents the preparation of the actual coating and has several important functions: Closure of pores and prevention of penetrating (seepage) of subsequent binders consolidation of the subsoil Increasing the adhesive bond between the substrate and the coating combined with scattering of the primer Sealing off the coating against rising damp or air and alkalis or from the substrate Primer for damp substrate IPANOL IH Patching Layer In the case of uneven and/or rough surfaces or substrates with cavities and nests of gravel, the substrate should be treated with a so-called pore, cavity, scratch or leveling filler. Filling is usually required for crack-bridging coatings in order to achieve a uniform layer thickness and thus uniform crack bridging. Layer with crack bridgeing ability The ability of the coatings to bridge cracks can be improved by making them more flexible and/or increasing the thickness of the layer. It is also possible to reinforce the coating systems with glass or polyester fleece or glass mesh fabrics. Final Layers Coatings with increased resistance to mechanical and chemical attack are applied in layer thicknesses of up to approx. 5 mm. In contrast to thin coatings, these thick coatings can also be mixed with fillers such as fine quartz sand.
