Global chemical company Evonik and Chinese sports brand 361° jointly hosted the global launch preview of the second-generation Mass Balance low-carbon eco-friendly running shoe "Fei Ran 5" at the 8th China International Import Expo. This running shoe uses Evonik's VESTAMID® ECO E40 nylon 12 elastomer foam material, achieving a 70% reduction in carbon emissions. Evonik's VESTAMID® ECO E40 nylon 12 elastomer foam material utilizes a supercritical physical foaming process, combining lightweight characteristics, high rebound, and a flexible feel, significantly enhancing the athletic performance of runners. Additionally, core raw materials are extracted from waste materials such as old tires through a "mass balance approach" and chemical recycling technology, while renewable energy is used in the production process, resulting in approximately a 70% reduction in overall carbon emissions compared to traditional methods. VESTAMID® ECO E40 has been certified by a third party and achieves full-process digital traceability, creating a truly green closed-loop system.
