Mining Wear-Resistant Pipeline

Commonly used mining wear-resistant pipeline, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) pipeline. Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is a thermoplastic engineering plastic with an average molecular weight greater than 2 million, polymerized from ethylene and butadiene monomers under the action of a catalyst. Its excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance well meet various requirements for tailings transportation pipelines.

The ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene pipes were listed as a key promotion plan for national scientific and technological achievements by the Ministry of Science and Technology in document No. 056 (2000) in 2001, belonging to the category of new materials and products in the chemical industry. The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology have classified ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene pipes as a priority development project in the field of high-tech industries.

Excellent Characteristics of Mining Wear-Resistant Pipeline:

1. Extremely high wear resistance. The unique molecular structure of UHMW-PE products gives it a very high resistance to sliding friction. Its wear resistance is 6.6 times higher than that of ordinary alloy steel and 27.3 times that of stainless steel. It is 17.9 times that of phenolic resin, 6 times that of nylon 6, and 4 times that of polyethylene, with an average annual wear rate of 0.58mm, greatly extending the service life of the pipeline.

2. Extremely high impact resistance. This product has a high impact toughness value among existing engineering plastics. Many materials may crack, break, or suffer surface stress fatigue under severe or repeated explosive impacts. This product meets the GB1843 standard and achieves no damage in cantilever beam impact tests.

3. Excellent chemical stability. This product can withstand the erosion of strong chemicals, except for slight corrosion from certain strong acids at high temperatures. It is not corroded in other alkaline and acidic solutions. It can be applied in concentrations below 80% and performs quite stably in concentrated nitric acid at concentrations below 75% and 20%.

4. Good self-lubricating properties. Due to the wax-like substances contained in this product, it has excellent self-lubrication. The friction coefficient (196N, 2 hours) is only 0.219MN/m (GB3960). Its sliding performance is superior to that of oil-lubricated steel or brass. Especially in harsh environments with dust and sand, the self-dry lubrication performance of this product is fully displayed. It not only moves freely but also protects related components from wear or scratches.

5. Non-toxicity to biological entities. Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene engineering plastic (UHMW-PE) pipes adapt to water quality fluids, solid particles, powders, slurries, etc., which traditional metal pipes cannot meet. UHMW-PE pipes can replace them, with high corrosion resistance, high wear resistance, and self-lubrication to absorb impacts, making them widely applicable across various industries; they have advantages in transporting solid particles, powders, slurries, and gases.

6. Unique low-temperature resistance. This product has excellent low-temperature resistance, and its impact resistance and wear resistance remain basically unchanged at -269 degrees Celsius. It is currently one of the engineering plastics that can work at temperatures close to zero. Simultaneously, this product has a wide temperature suitability, able to work in a range from -269°C to 80°C.

7. Non-adhesion of the surface. Due to its low friction coefficient and non-polarity, this product has excellent surface non-adhesion. Existing materials generally scale in media with a pH value above 9, while this product does not scale, which is of significant importance for its use in ash discharge systems of thermal power plants. It is also highly suitable for pipelines transporting crude oil, mud, etc.

8. Excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking. Resistance to environmental stress cracking > 4000h; Elastic modulus is more than 1.5 times that of PE100; Fatigue strength > 500,000 times.

9. Other characteristics. This product also has energy absorption, noise reduction, static electricity resistance, neutron shielding capabilities, does not absorb water, and is lightweight. It is easy to machine and can be colored, among other outstanding characteristics.
