Since the production of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene pipes, contracts have been rapidly signed with large mining enterprises in regions such as Yichun in Heilongjiang, Baotou in Inner Mongolia, Panzhihua in Sichuan, Qinghai, Hunan, and Hubei. Due to its high wear resistance, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene is widely used in the mining industry for transportation. Among various pipeline materials used in mining, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has a low friction coefficient. Coupled with its exceptionally long molecular chains, the wear resistance of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene pipes is 4-7 times higher than that of steel pipes and stainless steel pipes, and about 10 times higher than that of PVC pipes and polyethylene pipes, significantly extending the service life of the pipelines. The resistance during material transportation is low, ensuring stability in the usage of power equipment, and greatly reducing equipment failure rates. Additionally, due to its lighter weight, the difficulty and strength of construction are lower, resulting in reduced costs. This is particularly advantageous in mountainous areas and poor construction conditions. Application of ultra-high molecular weight pipes in the coal mining industry: In the coal industry, pipelines for transporting coal powder, mineral powder, tailings, and slurry are mostly made of steel pipes. Due to the presence of about 30% iron ore in these media, the wear on steel pipes is quite severe, leading to a typical service life of only 1-2 years. For transporting solid-liquid mixtures such as slurry in coal mining and selection processes, pipelines include tailings pipes and concentrate pipes. The coal preparation plants transport solid-liquid mixtures generated from coal blending, including flotation feed, flotation concentrate, and heavy medium suspension. Steel pipes show significant wear after 16 months of use, and substantial maintenance costs are incurred each year.
