Steel Belt Reinforced Corrugated Pipe

In China, enterprises that produce steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes have developed various connection methods through close cooperation with users to meet the needs of different engineering projects. The following introduces six commonly used connection methods, each with its advantages, disadvantages, and applicable scenarios. Users can choose based on the specific requirements and conditions of their projects. For example, some connection methods require more manual labor, making them more suitable for areas with lower labor costs.
1. Steel belt reinforced corrugated pipe extrusion molten material welding. Extrusion molten material welding involves using a hand-held welding extruder to melt polyethylene material and weld the polyethylene on both sides of the connection seam together. Typically, both internal and external double-sided welding is used and is suitable for pipes with a diameter of 800mm or more, allowing workers to enter the pipe for welding. The advantages of this method include: ensuring a leak-proof seal, convenient and flexible connections, simple construction tools (only requiring welding equipment and a power source), and low material costs. The disadvantage is that it requires more manual labor and is time-consuming.

2. Steel belt reinforced corrugated pipe clamp and sealing tape connection. The clamp and sealing tape connection involves using split metal clamps (composed of two halves, larger diameters can use four pieces) to encircle the two pipe segments to be connected from the outside circumference. The clamps have protrusions or bent edges, which can secure adjacent protrusions, allowing the two pipe segments to be fixed axially. A layer of elastic sealing tape is added between the clamp and the pipe, and elastic sealing blocks are inserted at the ends of the spiral groove connection seams of the steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipe, relying on the locking tension of the clamp to compress the elastic sealing tape and blocks to achieve the sealing requirements. The advantages of this method include: convenient and flexible connections, strong adaptability to on-site conditions, simple construction tools (only requiring manual tools), and low labor costs. The disadvantage is that the sealing reliability is lower, making it only suitable for drainage pipes.
3. Steel belt reinforced corrugated pipe heat shrinkable sleeve (band) connection. The materials used for the heat shrinkable sleeve (band) connection are polyethylene sleeves (bands) and reinforced fiber mesh. Before connecting, the polyethylene is cross-linked through electron accelerator radiation, then heated, expanded, and cooled to shape, while hot melt adhesive is coated on the inner wall of the pipe. During the construction of the flat top corrugated pipe connection, the heat shrinkable sleeve (band) is placed at the joint of the pipe segments, heated with a torch to shrink it, and fused with the hot melt adhesive on the inner wall, forming a well-sealed and moderately strong joint. The advantages of this method include: relatively easy connections, simple construction tools (only requiring a torch and no power source), and low material costs. The disadvantage is that it requires more manual labor.

4. Steel belt reinforced corrugated pipe electric heat fusion belt connection. The electric heat fusion belt connection uses a specially made electric heat fusion belt. The body is a polyethylene electric heat fusion belt, with electric heating wires embedded in its inner surface. When powered, the inner surface of the electric heat fusion belt melts, fusing with the grooves of the corrugated pipe.
During the connection, a section of electric heat fusion belt is first wrapped tightly around the groove at the joint, powered to melt the inner surface of the belt to fuse with the pipe's groove. For axial seams not covered by the electric heat fusion belt, extrusion molten material welding should be used. If necessary, an additional extrusion molten material welding can be performed inside the pipe.

5. Steel belt reinforced corrugated pipe straight pipe end connection with split clamp. This refers to welding a specially made polyethylene connecting component at the spiral end of the steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipe (completed at the manufacturing plant), which can convert the spiral end into a straight end with a tapered flange. At the installation site, a split clamp with a tapered groove is used to tightly connect the tapered flanges of the two pipe segments, relying on the sealing rubber ring between the flange end faces to ensure sealing.

6. Steel belt reinforced corrugated pipe straight pipe end connection with elastic sealing ring. The elastic sealing ring connection is a commonly used and user-favored connection method for underground drainage pipes, as it allows for connection simply by inserting the pipes. Sichuan Jinshi Dongfang New Material Equipment Co., Ltd. has developed a special design for the production line of steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes, allowing for the manufacture of pipes with straight cylindrical ends (similar to solid wall pipes). This pipe can achieve a socket connection when paired with a double-ended connecting sleeve that has a sealing ring.

The production line ensures the acquisition of better: flat top corrugated pipe
Recently, many plastic pipe production enterprises have chosen steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes when developing larger diameter plastic underground drainage pipes, because on one hand, this type of pipe is a high-performance and low-cost product, and on the other hand, the production line for steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes is independently developed and manufactured in China, which is relatively rare. A domestic production line for steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes with a diameter of 800-1200mm is approximately only 1/8 of the imported German production line for the same specification of all-plastic winding structure wall pipes.
Although the price of domestic steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipe production lines is lower, their production efficiency is not low, and can even exceed that of foreign all-plastic winding structure wall pipe production lines. For example, the steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipe production line developed by Sichuan Jinshi Dongfang New Material Equipment Co., Ltd. can achieve a production speed of 12m/h when manufacturing pipes with an internal diameter of 1200mm, which is higher than the 10m/h of the German production line.

Steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes have unparalleled advantages in the field of large diameter drainage pipes compared to all-plastic winding structure wall pipes, especially as China possesses independent intellectual property rights for production equipment, significantly reducing costs compared to foreign equipment. With the accelerated development of drainage engineering construction in China, the market demand for steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes is expected to grow, thereby greatly promoting the development of related production line and equipment manufacturing industries.
