Steel Belt Corrugated Pipe
Steel belt corrugated pipe, also known as PE steel belt pipe, or steel belt reinforced spiral corrugated pipe (MRP). It uses U-shaped steel belt composite PE material, which significantly improves the ring stiffness of the pipe without increasing costs, providing much greater strength compared to winding pipes and corrugated pipes of the same weight. This can solve a series of problems such as heavy loads, and the advantages of large diameter pipes are even more apparent.
In the past, developing countries with relatively backward infrastructure often used concrete pipes for large diameter underground drainage due to the insufficient ring stiffness of fully plastic-wound structure wall pipes. However, concrete pipes have poor corrosion resistance and sealing performance, which has always been a challenge for environmental protection and sustainable development. With the emergence of high ring stiffness large diameter steel belt reinforced polyethylene spiral corrugated pipes, it has become possible to replace concrete pipes with large diameter plastic underground pipes.
Large diameter steel belt corrugated pipes / Shangqiu corrugated pipes are made by pressing continuous steel belts into a spiral steel rib shape resembling "∧", which is then wound between two layers of polyethylene that are hot melt bonded. The production process is independently developed in China and includes 6 steps: pre-coating the carbon steel belt with resin to ensure the adhesion of steel and plastic; using an extruder to extrude polyethylene strip material, which is then wound and fused to form the inner layer of the pipe; the coated steel belt is shaped by a forming machine into a lateral cross-section of "∧" and longitudinally into a spiral steel rib, then wound and fused to the outside of the polyethylene inner layer; another extruder extrudes polyethylene strip material, which is then wound and fused to form the outer layer of the pipe; temperature, pressure, and speed control ensure that each layer is fused into a solid whole; and finally, the pipe is continuously wound to the required length and cut.

Currently, the diameter range of large diameter steel belt corrugated pipes produced in China is 600--2200mm, with SN8, SN12.5, and SN16.3 ring stiffness grades available, providing primarily SN12.5 ring stiffness products, and higher ring stiffness than SN16 can be achieved if needed.
