What is forage film?

    Forage film is a functional film that helps retain the nutrients of plants such as grass, corn, grains, and vegetables while preventing them from mold. This film can be used directly as packaging film for the aforementioned plants or can be pre-formed into bags before packaging. It can also be used as a covering film for fresh grass, hay, and grains.

    The most advanced silage technology currently is the wrapped silage technology. After harvesting the corn stalks and fresh grass, they are crushed and then compacted into bales with a baler. These bales are then wrapped with silage plastic stretch film, creating a sealed fermentation environment. Important points to consider when selecting forage film:

1. Always choose a professional manufacturer for forage film! Forage film is not just stretch film + color masterbatch!

2. Not all forage films are the same!

    Forage films need to be stored outdoors for extended periods, so their performance is closely related to the natural environment of the storage location, especially local seasons, light intensity, stretch performance, and humidity. This requires suppliers to adjust the color, formula, and other specifications of forage film based on the user's conditions, and of course, color also relates to the local preferences and habits of the users. 3. Never choose cast film for forage film!

There are two production processes for plastic films: casting and blown extrusion. Both processes have their advantages, but blown film is better for forage film!

1. Cast film requires high fluidity raw materials, resulting in lower strength.
2. Cast film has an uneven appearance, poor sealing, and shows more evident issues over long-term storage.
3. Low recovery strength of cast film leads to poor wrapping force, causing excessive oxygen content in the forage bag, which is not conducive to fermentation.
4. The processing temperature of cast film is higher than that of blown film, resulting in significant evaporation of polyolefin materials at high temperatures, causing a decrease in material performance and severe thermal oxidation, leading to unstable product quality.

5. Control of tension in cast film is difficult, resulting in issues with unwinding, which are more pronounced over long-term storage.
