Construction Materials-Other Building Materials
**Rubber Waterstop** is made from natural rubber and various synthetic rubbers as the main raw materials, mixed with various additives and fillers, and processed through plasticizing, mixing, and molding. It comes in various types and specifications, including external, embedded, backstop, and detachable types. This product is an ideal accessory for construction engineering and civil defense projects to prevent seepage and leakage, provide shock absorption and cushioning, and ensure tight sealing.
Rubber waterstops are primarily used in concrete cast-in-place during construction joints and deformation joints, integrating with concrete structures in foundational engineering, such as underground facilities, tunnels, culverts, water conveyance channels, water retention dams, and liquid storage structures.
During the installation of rubber waterstops, care must be taken due to the presence of sharp stones and reinforcing bars in the concrete, which can puncture the rubber waterstop if excessive impact occurs while pouring and positioning. If any ruptures are detected, they should be promptly repaired; otherwise, the ability of the rubber waterstop to resist external forces will be significantly reduced when the joints deform and are subjected to water pressure. When positioning the rubber waterstop, it is essential to keep it flat at the interface, avoiding any rolling or twisting; any twisting should be corrected immediately. During the pouring and fixing of the waterstop, care should be taken to prevent lateral displacement to avoid shortening on one side, which would affect the waterstop's effectiveness. Sufficient vibration must also be applied during the concrete pouring to ensure good bonding between the waterstop and the concrete, thereby improving the waterstop effect. The joints of the waterstop must be well bonded; if site conditions permit, hot vulcanization connection methods can be used.
The on-site hot vulcanization method for joints involves using hot vulcanization molds and raw rubber sheets that match the waterstop for on-site heat vulcanization connections. Although this method has high construction difficulty, it achieves ideal joint results and is suitable for projects with strict quality requirements.
