Top 10 Overseas Power Battery Installations: 3 Drop Out, One New Chinese Company Joins with Over 10-Fold Increase
From the global (excluding China) top 10 rankings of power battery installations in the first half of the year, PPES, CALB, and PEVE have dropped out of the top 10 compared to the same period last year, while Tesla, Gotion High-Tech, and Honeycomb Energy have newly entered the top 10, ranking 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively.
On August 6, the South Korean research institution SNE Research disclosed data on the global (excluding China) power battery installation volume for the first half of 2025, reaching 209.2 GWh, an increase of 23.8% year-on-year.
In terms of the top 10 global (excluding China) power battery installation volumes in the first half of the year,Compared with the same period last year, CATL, LGES, and SK On have maintained their top 3 positions. Panasonic and Samsung SDI have swapped rankings, with Panasonic rising to 4th place and Samsung SDI dropping to 5th. BYD remains steady at 6th place. Farasis Energy has moved up from 9th to 7th place. PPES, CALB, and PEVE have dropped out of the TOP 10 compared to last year. Tesla, Gotion High-Tech, and Honeycomb Energy have newly entered the TOP 10, ranking 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively.
Compared with the rankings from January to May this year, CATL, LGES, and SK On maintained their top three positions. Panasonic, Samsung SDI, and BYD were locked in a battle for rankings; Samsung SDI and BYD each dropped one place to fifth and sixth, respectively, while Panasonic rose to fourth place. Farasis Energy, Tesla, and Gotion High-Tech maintained stable rankings, and SVOLT replaced CALB to enter the top ten at tenth place.

Farasis Energy’s installed battery volume was 4.8 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 33.7%, with its market share rising to 2.3%. Gotion High-Tech’s installed battery volume was 3.9 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 98.2%, with its market share rising to 1.9%. SVOLT’s installed battery volume was 3.8 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 1043.2%, with its market share rising to 1.8%.
Battery Network has noted that recently, Fortune China simultaneously released the latest Fortune Global 500 list. Two major domestic power battery giants, BYD and CATL, made the list. Among them, BYD improved its ranking and entered the top 100 of the list for the first time this year, ranking 91st.
Regarding the Korean company,In the first half of the year, the total installed capacity of the three major Korean battery companies reached 78.6 GWh, with their market share declining to 37.4%. Among them, LGES had an installed capacity of 43.0 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%, but its market share dropped to 20.5%; SK On’s installed capacity was 19.6 GWh, growing 10.6% year-on-year, with its market share falling to 9.3%; Samsung SDI’s installed capacity was 16.0 GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%, and its market share declined to 7.6%.
Regarding the Japanese company,In the first half of the year, Panasonic rose to fourth place with a shipment volume of 18.8 GWh, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.4%, although its market share declined to 9.0%. Reportedly, Panasonic is responding to the recently strengthened U.S. restrictions on Chinese batteries and raw materials by accelerating the restructuring of its supply chain centered in North America. In particular, the company is reducing its reliance on Chinese materials and enhancing the stability of battery production by expanding local procurement and securing new sources of materials. These strategies are expected to form an important foundation for the recovery of usage and maintenance of market share in the North American market in the future.
