The Zhongke Kele EPOE packaging material project has been approved.
On March 24, the headquarters (Phase II) project of KELUO polyolefin elastomer packaging materials of CAS was approved and filed by the Economic Development Bureau of Hefei High-tech Zone. It is reported that in January 2024, the environmental impact assessment approval for the headquarters project of KELUO polyolefin elastomer packaging materials of CAS was granted by the Hefei High-tech Zone Ecological Environment Bureau of Anhui Province, Hefei City.
According to the previous environmental impact assessment, upon completion, the project will primarily produce polyolefin elastomers to meet the needs of photovoltaic encapsulation films, polypropylene toughening, and compatibilization for mixed plastic recycling, achieving full domestic production of high-end polyolefins.
The China Kele聚烯烃弹性体 encapsulation materials headquarters (Phase II) project is located in Hefei High-tech Zone, Anhui Province. With a total investment of 44 million yuan, it mainly constructs catalyst preparation laboratories, polymerization reaction laboratories, processing testing laboratories, warehouses, offices, and other supporting facilities for experimental research and development. It will also synchronously build facilities for the treatment of exhaust gas and solid waste.
Hefei Zhongke Kole New Materials Co., Ltd. was established in 2022. Supported by Professor Chen Changle's research group from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science at the University of Science and Technology of China, and the Institute of Materials Science and Information Technology at Anhui University, among other universities and research institutes, the company focuses on the development of high-end polyolefin catalysts and the research and development of high-end polyolefin materials as its development goals.
Based on entirely original nickel-based catalyst technology, Zhongke Kele has pioneered the groundbreaking E-POE process, which utilizes ethylene as the sole feedstock and employs domestically produced auxiliaries along with conventional polymerization equipment and techniques to achieve POE production. Their product portfolio includes polyolefin elastomers, cyclic olefin copolymers, and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.
On November 18, 2024, the world's first 5000-ton/year ethylene-based polyolefin elastomer (E-POE) project, jointly constructed by Zhongke Kele and Dongming Petrochemical, was successfully completed. The facility is now ready for trial production, marking a significant breakthrough for China in breaking the foreign monopoly on POE technology.
