Recently, the bio-based PC specialty engineering plastics developed through the collaboration between China Kunlun Engineering Co., Ltd. and Puyang Shengtong Juyuan New Materials Co., Ltd. made their official debut. Driven by the dual forces of digital intelligence and greening, high-end materials represented by bio-based PC, PEEK, and PPS are becoming the core power defining the future manufacturing standards. As the first and largest domestic industrial production facility for bio-based PC, this unit replaces the copolymer monomer bisphenol A with bio-based monomers, introducing a unique bis-furan ring structure into the polymer. It surpasses traditional bisphenol A-based PC in key indicators such as optical performance and weather resistance, and, with the inherent advantage of being bisphenol A-free, precisely targets trillion-yuan application markets including food packaging and medical devices.This technology is led by Puyang Shengtong Juyuan New Material Co., Ltd. for basic research.The company leads the development of process packages and engineering design, overcoming technical challenges such as core monomer synthesis and purification, high-efficiency polymerization process development, product performance balancing and regulation, as well as industrialization and cost control. This breaks the monopoly of foreign enterprises in the Chinese market and opens up the possibility for the local commercialization of bio-based PC, enhancing China's core competitiveness in the functionalization, differentiation, and high-end development of polycarbonate.

The innovative practice of bio-based PC has always resonated with national strategies, not only driving the improvement of the upstream bio-based raw material industry chain but also accelerating the upgrade of downstream industries such as green packaging and new energy vehicles through cost advantages. The Shengtong Juyuan Phase II Project is a 54,000-ton/year specialty polymer project jointly developed with PetroChina. It includes projects such as the low melt index PC side-line, bio-based PC, PPS, hydrogenated bisphenol A, isosorbide, and modified plastics production lines. Some product lines have already been put into operation. The project is expected to further enrich the supply of products to the global market and provide more options for end customers in Vietnam.

Shengtong Juyuan's low melt index polycarbonate 903RB, with its excellent impact resistance and eco-friendly plasticizer-free characteristics, has become the preferred material in the high-end drinking water packaging field.
In the field of high-temperature resistant materials, the PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) material launched by Shengtong Juyuan is widely used in core industrial areas such as battery components, engine parts, oil pump components, and household appliance products, thanks to its high mechanical strength, high temperature resistance, and chemical resistance. This contributes to the advancement of industrial manufacturing toward higher-end applications.
Shengtong Juyuan, through technological innovation, has applied isosorbide materials to the development of bio-based PC materials. As a new materials enterprise possessing China's first large-scale bio-based PC production facility, the implementation of Shengtong Juyuan's bio-based PC materials project is at the forefront, promoting the green transformation of the global polymer materials industry.
Isosorbide, characterized by its green and non-toxic properties, can be widely used in fields such as food, pharmaceuticals, and beauty products. Bio-based PC materials derived from isosorbide possess features such as high transparency, resistance to yellowing, and a high glass transition temperature, making them widely applicable in optical lenses, automobile windshields, and other areas.

In 2024, China's polycarbonate exports to Vietnam reached 132 million USD, accounting for a significant share of Vietnam's import market.
