Shuangliang Group, a 73,000-ton annual production project of electronic new materials has commenced!
On March 18, Jiangsu Shuangliang Electronic New Materials Co., Ltd. held a grand groundbreaking ceremony for the main construction of its 73,000-ton BOPP electronic new materials project (Phase I). Attendees included Executive President and Party Secretary of Shuangliang Group Co., Ltd. Miao Zhiqiang, General Manager of Jiangsu Shuangliang Electronic New Materials Co., Ltd. Guo Huashan, General Manager of Jiangyin Huaxia Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. Xue Hongjian, General Manager of Jiangyin Ruixin Construction Co., Ltd. Xu Bingxing, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Foreign Construction Engineering Management Co., Ltd. Xu Weifeng, and Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Tianheng Engineering Consulting Management Co., Ltd. Li Tong, among other guests, who together witnessed this important moment.
The Shuangliang Electronic New Materials project focuses on the research and development as well as production of high-temperature resistant, high-strength capacitor films, composite current collector base films, and functional BOPP, BOPE films. The products will be widely applied in key areas such as electronic devices, new energy batteries, and green packaging. This has significant strategic importance for breaking through foreign technological monopolies, solving the "chokepoint" problem of domestic substitution for high-end electronic materials, and assisting in the realization of the "dual carbon" goals.
It is reported that after the completion of the first phase of the project, it will form an annual production capacity of 3,000 tons of high-temperature resistant and high-strength capacitor film and high-strength composite current collector base film, and 70,000 tons of functional BOPP film. As a strategic pivot for the new materials sector of Shuangliang, it will significantly enhance the company's core competitiveness in the field of electronic new materials, promote the development of high-end manufacturing clusters in the Yangtze River Delta region, and inject new momentum into the transformation and upgrading of the regional economy.
BOPP film is a very important flexible packaging material with extensive applications. BOPP film is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic, and it has high tensile strength, impact strength, rigidity, toughness, and good transparency. The surface energy of BOPP film is low, and corona treatment is required before gluing or printing. After corona treatment, BOPP film has good printability, allowing for multi-color printing to achieve exquisite appearance effects, and thus it is commonly used as the surface layer material of composite films.
BOPP can be divided into general type, heat-seal type, label film, metallized film, and capacitor film according to their uses, among which the capacitor film refers to the dielectric material in film capacitors. Through the polarization of the dielectric, the capacitor accumulates more charges. The technical indicators of the capacitor film play a decisive role in the performance of the capacitor. The more commonly used types of film capacitors are polypropylene (PP) film capacitors and polyester (PET) film capacitors.
The performance characteristics of the two types of capacitor films differ. The downstream application fields of polypropylene film capacitors are wider than those of polyester film capacitors. Under high-frequency conditions, polypropylene film capacitors have higher stability than polyester film capacitors; under the same temperature conditions, the range of capacity change with temperature for polypropylene film capacitors is smaller than that for polyester film capacitors. The loss of polypropylene film capacitors is less than that of polyester film capacitors. The advantages of polyester film capacitors lie in their small size and high-temperature resistance. Relatively speaking, polypropylene film capacitors have more advantages, and in many application fields, polyester film capacitors have been replaced by polypropylene film capacitors.
And from the perspective of capacitor film applications, by 2025, the market size of capacitor films in the new energy sector will be roughly equal to that in traditional sectors (such as industrial control, home appliances, etc.). In the new energy sector, the market size of capacitor films was less than a quarter of that in traditional sectors in 2020, but by 2025, it has already reached parity with the market size of traditional sectors. This is due to the continuous increase in domestic demand for new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, wind power, and energy storage, especially in the field of new energy vehicles.
As a leading enterprise with extensive presence in new energy fields such as photovoltaics, energy storage, and hydrogen, it is reasonable to layout related materials. This also confirms what Guo Huashan emphasized at the groundbreaking ceremony: the Shuangliang Electronic New Materials project is one of the milestone projects for the group to position itself based on the national "dual carbon" strategy and seize opportunities in the new energy industry. In the diversified industrial structure of Shuangliang, it holds a pivotal position. The company shoulders the mission of industrial upgrading, technological leadership, and green development, and must advance the construction of the project with the highest standards and the strictest requirements.
