Second Week of September Sales Rankings: Xiaomi Returns to Second Place, BYD Surpasses 60,000 Units Again

New Energy Vehicle Network 2025-09-17 09:34:31

After a brief decline in sales during the first week of September, the automotive market showed a significant recovery in the second week of September (September 8-14), with most brands experiencing a substantial increase in sales.

The performance of leading new forces and mainstream car companies is impressive. Xiaomi, Formula Leopard, Arcfox, and IM Motors all saw weekly sales increase by more than 50% compared to the previous week, becoming key drivers of market recovery. Among them, after nearly halving in early September, Xiaomi's sales surged by 58% last week, surpassing AITO and regaining the runner-up position. IM Motors, with the official launch of the new generation LS6, successfully activated market demand, with weekly sales skyrocketing by 86%, showing strong growth momentum.

In addition, brands such as Leapmotor, BYD, XPeng, Li Auto, Lantu, Deepal, Galaxy, Changan, Bestune, and Lantu all saw their weekly sales increase by more than 20% week-on-week. Notably, Leapmotor has consistently led during this recovery cycle, not only reclaiming the top spot on the new forces sales chart but also maintaining its position at the top for eight consecutive weeks, further solidifying its market competitiveness.

With the support of several popular models, BYD's weekly sales have once again exceeded 60,000 units, firmly holding the top position in the fiercely competitive automotive market, with no one able to rival it so far.

Unlike the growth trends of most brands, NIO, Leap Motor, and MG experienced a decline in sales in the second week of September. Among them, NIO's sales saw a significant drop, with a 16% decrease week-on-week, making it one of the weaker-performing leading brands in this market recovery. Future adjustments to market strategies will be worth paying attention to.

In the TOP15 weekly sales ranking of new power car brands, Leapmotor continues to lead the chart, with weekly sales once again surpassing the 10,000 mark, a 20.4% increase compared to the previous week. This strong performance has allowed it to secure the top spot on the new power list for eight consecutive weeks, highlighting its market dominance. In terms of model performance, the product lineup is flourishing: the weekly sales of Leapmotor C10 reached 3,200 units, becoming one of the brand's sales pillars; both the B01 and C11 models also performed impressively, with weekly sales exceeding 2,500 units each; the B10 and C16 maintained stable output, with weekly sales surpassing 1,700 units each, laying a solid foundation for Leapmotor's continued leadership with a comprehensive product layout.

Xiaomi Auto has shown strong growth momentum, with weekly sales reaching 9,800 units, a significant week-on-week increase of 58%. With this outstanding performance, it has once again surpassed AITO to reclaim the second place on the leaderboard. Two of its main models contributed significantly: the Xiaomi SU7 achieved weekly sales of 5,200 units, continuously serving as the core of the brand's sales; the Xiaomi YU7 followed closely with weekly sales of 4,600 units. These two models form a "dual-engine" driving force, steadily boosting Xiaomi's sales growth.

Wenjie ranked third this week with a weekly sales of 8,600 units, but the growth rate compared to the leading brands and rapidly growing competitors has notably slowed, facing certain competitive pressure. On the model level, the Wenjie M8 remains the main sales driver with a weekly sales of 4,800 units; the Wenjie M9 had a steady performance with weekly sales of 2,500 units.

It is worth noting that AITO is about to launch a new product. The all-new AITO M7 is scheduled to be officially released on September 23. During the pre-sale phase at the Chengdu Auto Show, it already attracted tremendous popularity. According to official data, in just eight days of pre-sale, small deposit orders exceeded 190,000 units. This new model is expected to become an important driving force for AITO’s sustained sales growth in the future.

In the mid-tier rankings, the competition between Xpeng and Li Auto has reached a stalemate, with the weekly sales of both brands being nearly equal. Xpeng holds a slight lead by a narrow margin. For Li Auto, the upcoming new release might break the current situation — the highly anticipated Li Auto i6 is scheduled to launch on September 26th. With the entry of this new model into the market, Li Auto's sales are expected to rise rapidly, likely surpassing Xpeng and climbing to the fourth position on the list.

Last week, sales of Fangchengbao increased by 62% compared to the previous week, successfully surpassing Zeekr and rising to seventh place on the list. The explosive growth in sales is primarily driven by the addition of a new product: the Fangchengbao Titanium 7, which was just launched on September 9. Last week, it delivered a sales result of 1,300 vehicles. The new car quickly became a hot seller upon its release, rapidly injecting vitality into the brand's sales.

In addition, both Arcfox and Zhiji have achieved significant sales growth this week, with weekly sales for both brands increasing by over 50% compared to the previous week, driven by the launch of new models. Arcfox's T1, launched on September 11, reached sales of 300 units last week, contributing to the brand's sales growth. Zhiji, on the other hand, saw its weekly sales soar by 86% thanks to the impressive performance of the new LS6, which has become a key driver of the brand's sales growth.

However, not all brands are showing growth. NIO and Lantu, which saw a rise in sales at the end of August, both experienced a decline in sales this week compared to the previous week. NIO's decline was particularly significant, with a 16% drop in sales on a week-on-week basis, indicating certain market challenges in the short term. The good news is that NIO is prepared for new products, with the new NIO ES8 set to launch on September 20. With the introduction of this heavyweight new car to the market, NIO's sales are expected to rebound quickly and return to a growth trajectory.

BYD surpasses 60,000 units again, Changan surges to re-enter the top ten.

BYD's performance in the second week was outstanding, with weekly sales rising strongly to over 60,000 units, reaching 64,800 units. Recently, BYD has been actively making moves; at the end of August, they launched the Qin L EV 545km Yunlian model. On September 15th, the 2026 model of the Seal 07 DM-i was officially released, and on September 16th, the BYD Tang DM-i Intelligent Drive Edition added a 175km version. According to related sources, new models of popular products like Qin PLUS and Song L will be launched in succession, continuing to inject momentum into sales growth.

After BYD, brands such as Galaxy, Wuling, Tesla, and Leapmotor performed outstandingly, with all five new energy vehicle brands surpassing 10,000 in sales in the second week. Among them, Galaxy's sales reached 25,200 units, with a week-on-week increase of 27.3%, showcasing remarkable results. Wuling sold 18,400 units, with a week-on-week growth of 19.5%, continuing to focus on the affordable market to meet the diverse travel needs of consumers. Tesla's sales were 15,400 units, with a week-on-week increase of 7.7%, showing stable market performance.

Aside from the new forces, Changan New Energy's performance in the second week of this month is noteworthy among other new energy vehicle brands. Its weekly sales increased to 6,000 units, rapidly approaching the weekly sales scale of the leading group. Traditionally, among the 20 major domestic new energy vehicle brands, 5,000 units have been an important dividing line between the top ten and the bottom ten. In the past, the weekly sales of the latter were mostly below 5,000 units. Now, brands such as Changan New Energy, Aion, and Chery have successively surpassed this figure, which to some extent reflects that the mainstream new energy market pattern is developing towards greater diversity.

In summary, the second week of September saw a positive growth trend in the new energy vehicle market. This week, the market is set to witness a wave of major new car launches, with eight standout models debuting. These include the new Voyah Dreamer, Xiangjie S9T, Galaxy M9, new NIO ES8, new Avatr 06, Roewe M7 DMH, Audi E5 Sportback, and Fengyun X3L. The intensive release of this batch of new cars will not only inject strong vitality into the market and further enrich consumer choices, but also signify that competition in the new energy sector is entering a more intense new phase.
