Meteor Creative US Ohio Plant to Permanently Cease Operations in April
Meteor Creative Inc., a manufacturer that produces molds for automotive and OEM aftermarket equipment manufacturers, recently announced the permanent closure of its manufacturing facility in Tippecanoe, Ohio, USA.
According to the submission to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services,"Workers Adjustment and Retraining Notice"(WARN) is expected to close on April 24, 2026, affecting 66 employees.

In its letter to the state government, the company stated: "The decision to close the facility is due to the inability to secure sufficient customer contracts to sustain ongoing operations." "Despite diligent and good-faith efforts to negotiate new business arrangements with customers, these efforts were unsuccessful, and customers declined to enter into the contracts necessary to maintain the facility's operations."
Meteor Creative has been in operation since 1979, specializing in the production of molds for the automotive and aftermarket industries. In 2021, the company was acquired by German sealing manufacturer Meteor Group GmbH.
A WARN notice was submitted as a precautionary measure.
In the WARN notice, Meteor Creative emphasized that this filing is made out of an abundance of caution. The company explained: “Because the company employs fewer than 100 employees at this facility and does not meet the statutory threshold for a ‘covered employer’ under state law, this notice is not intended to be, and should not be construed as, an admission that the WARN Act applies to this closure or that the company or any of its employees are required to provide this notice.”
The company further clarifies that it reserves all rights and defenses under the WARN Act, similar state laws, and other applicable laws.
This closure will affect both union-represented and non-represented employees. The union workers are represented by the United Steelworkers, Local 1123L of the AFL-CIO-CLC. While bumping rights exist under the applicable collective bargaining agreement, the company notes that these rights will not apply due to the complete closure of the facility.
Decades of operation
Meteor Creative's factory in Tipp City, which had been a vital part of its operations for decades, is closing after the company failed to secure enough customer contracts, leading to the difficult decision to shut down. This announcement marks the end of an era for the Ohio-based facility, which has been part of the local manufacturing landscape for nearly half a century.
Affected employees, including those represented by the United Steelworkers union, will face significant changes as the company gradually shuts down operations. Meteor Creative's decision highlights the challenges manufacturers face in maintaining operations amid shifting market demands and contract negotiations.
