June 15 Update on Biodegradable Plastics Plant Operations

PLA

The Wuxi Nanda New Material PLA facility has an annual capacity of 5,000 tons with one production line currently stopped. It specializes in grade WN115 high-gloss pure fiber polylactic acid and grade WN116 injection-molding polylactic acid.

The Anhui Fengyuan PLA facility is dynamically stable, with a production capacity of 30,000 tons/year for the first phase, which is operating steadily. The second phase has a production capacity of 70,000 tons/year and is also operating steadily.

Zhejiang Hisun Biomaterials’ PLA facilities are operating stably. The 10,000-ton-per-year PLA production unit has started up and is operating stably; the 30,000-ton-per-year PLA unit has also started up and is operating stably; and the Hainuoer 20,000-ton-per-year PLA unit is operating stably. For Haichuangda’s fund-raised project, Phase I of the 75,000-ton-per-year PLA unit is under commissioning, and Phase II of the 75,000-ton-per-year PLA unit is scheduled for completion before December 2028.

PBAT

Zhuhai Jinfa Biochemical's PBAT facility is converting a 25,000 tons/year old unit to produce PBS, while another 35,000 tons/year old unit and one 60,000 tons/year new unit are starting up, along with another 60,000 tons/year new unit.

Xinjiang Lanshan Tunhe PBAT plant has a capacity of 2 × 60,000 tons/year. One production line is in operation, another production line is in operation; one 8,000 tons/year line is shut down.

Gansu Mogao PBAT, grade MG-901S, plant capacity 20,000 tons/year, 1 production line, plant start-up.

PGA

The PGA unit of CHN Energy Yulin Chemical has a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year with one production line. Its main grade is PGA050. The unit has already produced qualified products and is operating stably.

PBS

Xuke New Materials’ PBS plant, Phase I 30,000 tons/year unit, was put into operation at the end of July 2023 and is in staged production.

Meirui New Material’s PBS plant has an annual capacity of 20,000 tons, mainly producing grade E810. The facility has one production line and operates in stages.

Xinjiang Blue Ridge Tunhe’s PBS plant has a capacity of 8,000 tons/year, mainly supplying grade TH803S, with one production line. The plant has been switched to TPEE production.。

PPC

Jiangsu Zhongke Jinlong's PPC polyol unit has a capacity of 22,000 tons/year and is undergoing phased start-up. The biodegradable PPC-TPU unit has a capacity of 10,000 tons/year, with one production line, and is undergoing phased start-up.

The 50,000 t/year PPC unit at Jilin Boda Oriental is shut down.

Zhejiang Huafeng’s 10,000 t/y PPC unit, mainly supplying the HF901 grade, is shut down.
