Evonik Showcases at CHINAPLAS 2026: Transcending Chemical Boundaries to Shape an Infinite Future

Evonik, a global specialty chemicals company, will showcase its high-performance polymers and plastic additives solutions at CHINAPLAS 2026—the largest plastics and rubber exhibition in Asia—under the theme “Beyond Chemical Boundaries, Shaping an Unlimited Future.” The company will highlight its innovative solutions in sustainability, energy transition, low-altitude economy, smart manufacturing, personalized healthcare, and the circular economy.

China's manufacturing industry is continuously moving towards high-end, intelligent, and green development, and material innovation is becoming an important support for promoting high-quality industrial development and sustainable transformation. Helping new energy vehicles achieve breakthroughs in safety and performance

With the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle industry, thermal management has become crucial for ensuring battery safety and performance. Evonik's VESTAMID® PA12 material, with its excellent chemical resistance and high-temperature performance, is widely used in battery cooling tubing, power busbars, and energy storage systems, meeting the demands for efficient heat dissipation and long-term stable operation. At the same time, PA12 also demonstrates excellent performance in data center cooling systems, supporting the construction of AI and digital economy infrastructure.

In addition to thermal management, Evonik's innovative materials are also applied in core components of automobiles such as electric motors and transmissions. Its VESTAKEEP® PEEK insulated electromagnetic flat wire laboratory, located in the Shanghai Innovation Park, has officially started operations, focusing on the research and development of applications for electric vehicle motors. This will further promote the lightweight and high-performance development of motors. At the same time, gears made using VESTAKEEP® PEEK can provide a more perfect gear material solution for automotive transmissions, contributing to the continuous development of China's New Energy Vehicle (NEV) industry.

Lay out new scenarios for low-altitude economy and green aviation

Low-altitude economy is one of the key areas in China's 14th Five-Year Plan, and is now experiencing rapid development. In response to the application demands of new aircraft such as electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOL), Evonik will showcase ROHACELL® PMI foam material. This material is known for its ultra-light weight and high strength, and can be used in the design of critical structural components for eVTOL, achieving lightweight and safety at the same time, thus promoting green air travel.

Meanwhile, VESTAMID® PA12 material, with its excellent chemical and high-temperature resistance, can also be used in the thermal management systems of low-altitude aircraft, ensuring the safety and stable operation of batteries and power systems under extreme conditions, further enhancing the performance and reliability of the aircraft.

End-to-end solutions covering the entire hydrogen industry chain—production, storage, and transportation.

Focusing on hydrogen, a key direction for energy transition, Evonik will showcase comprehensive solutions spanning hydrogen production to transportation. DURAION® anion exchange membranes enable efficient green hydrogen production; SEPURAN® gas separation membranes allow for hydrogen purification, improving energy efficiency; and VESTAMID® NRG PA12 is used in hydrogen transportation pipelines, ensuring pipeline safety and durability.

Expanding the Boundaries of Personalized Medicine and Advanced Manufacturing

Evonik materials have made substantial progress in the field of personalized medicine. Patient-specific cranial implants manufactured using Evonik’s VESTAKEEP® Fusion filament have received China’s first registration certificate for products produced via FDM additive manufacturing technology, marking a significant advancement in personalized medicine in China. Additionally, spinal implants made with VESTAKEEP® i4 3DF have also received China’s first NMPA registration certificate, offering enhanced safety and precision in orthopedic surgery and benefiting more patients.

As a pioneer in polymer 3D printing, INFINAM® PA12 demonstrates significant potential in precision manufacturing, customized components, and small-batch production, thanks to its high strength, chemical resistance, and excellent processability. It has already been widely adopted across industries such as automotive, consumer goods, and medical devices, driving China's advanced manufacturing toward greater intelligence and efficiency.

Releasing Material Value for Consumption Upgrade

In the high-end consumer goods sector, Evonik's VESTAMID® PEBA elastomers, which combine light weight, excellent impact resistance, and flexibility, have become the ideal material for the midsoles and outsoles of high-end sports shoes. Not only do they enhance the comfort and durability of the sports shoes, but they also meet the demands of sports brands for sustainable and high-performance materials. Additionally, VESTAMID®-based melt-blown nonwovens, which are fluffy fiber materials, will be showcased. These materials, due to their lightness, can be used in applications such as textiles and filtration, and are suitable for the production of uppers in sports shoes and high-end garment fabrics.

To meet the aforementioned continuously growing market demand, Evonik has been actively expanding its production capacity. The Polyamide No. 2 reactor project in Shanghai successfully commenced trial production by the end of 2025, doubling Evonik’s long-chain polyamide production capacity in Asia.

Focusing on Circular Economy, Promoting the Upgrading of Recycled Plastics

Evonik will showcase its innovative additive solutions in the fields of plastic recycling and processing. During the mechanical recycling process, the use of TEGO® CYCLE and TEGO® Sorb series products effectively removes inks, packaging labels, and residual odors during the cleaning and modification stages, ultimately converting contaminated plastic waste into high-quality recycled materials. Additionally, Evonik's TEGO® PPA series of processing aids offers a PFAS-free solution to enhance packaging quality and environmental sustainability.
