Evonik Launches New Cesa™ MAX Flame Retardant Additive to Meet Stringent Industry Standards
The newly developed Cesa™ MAX flame retardant additive series by Avient Corporation is a halogen-free solution designed to meet stringent flame retardant testing requirements.
Avient Corporation announced the launch of a new series of polymer flame retardant additives (FR), which can effectively enhance the flame retardancy of end products and help meet the increasingly stringent product safety standards in the polyethylene application field. The Cesa™ MAX flame retardant additive, formulated with halogen-free flame retardants, is particularly suitable for applications that require strict control of smoke density and toxic gas emissions.
The new generation of Cesa MAX FR additives is designed to help manufacturers meet or exceed current safety standards, assisting end products in passing increasingly stringent UL 94 standard testing methods, including compliance with UL94 V0-V1-V2, 5VA, and 5VB standards. According to internal test data from Avient in an A2LA accredited analytical testing and characterization laboratory, compared to traditional flame retardants, Cesa MAX FR additives can significantly reduce the rate of heat release over time, effectively suppressing the spread of fire and damage.
"The new Cesa MAX FR additive achieves the highest load concentration of halogen-free flame retardant components in our single masterbatch," said Felipe Reichert, Global Market Director for Specialty Colors, Additives, and Inks at Evonik. "This provides excellent versatility for customers needing to meet various fire safety standards in different application scenarios."
Cesa MAX FR additives use a halogen-free flame retardant formula that contains no bromine or chlorine elements, and they have good compatibility with most polyethylene resins (PE). These additives can be customized according to the specific performance requirements of the construction, consumer goods, home appliances, transportation, and electronics industries. This product series achieves cost-effectiveness by optimizing the dilution ratio. With production bases located in multiple regions across the United States, small batch samples are available to facilitate quick integration into customers' production processes.
