Domestic innovation! The first domestically produced BOPLA film dedicated production line is accelerating its advancement.
High-performance membrane materials 2025-03-26 12:04:23

Recently, the "BOPLA Film" project jointly developed by Guilin Electrical Science Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guilin Electric Institute") and Jiangsu Xinsi Yi Biodegradable Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jiangsu Xinsi Yi") has achieved stable mass production on the multifunctional biaxial stretching testing line at Guilin Electric Institute. The produced BOPLA film meets the biodegradable performance standards of the EU and national relevant standards, and has passed audits by authoritative certification and testing institutions both domestically and internationally. Currently, the construction of the first domestically-produced dedicated production line for BOPLA film, jointly developed by both parties, is accelerating.

Key Nodes

In the exploration process of biodegradable materials, time nodes have become key coordinates witnessing breakthroughs and developments.

On October 22, 2024, Jiangsu Xinsi Yi Biomaterials Co., Ltd. formally held a signing ceremony for the research and development cooperation agreement for the first BOPLA production line with Guilin Electrical Science Research Institute Co., Ltd. Dr. Huang Wenping, Chairman of the company, Dr. Si Peng, General Manager, and several directors and executives attended the signing ceremony. Mr. Luo Chunhua, General Manager of Guilin Electric Institute’s Glace Technology Co., Ltd., and Mr. Ma Yunhua, Deputy General Manager, along with other senior executives, were present at the ceremony. Both parties, based on the principle of "complementary advantages and joint development," have embarked on a collaborative journey in the research and development of the BOPLA dedicated production line and BOPLA production process development, establishing an important bridge for the subsequent project advancement.

In the same year in December, Guilin Electric Science Academy and Jiangsu New Siyi further deepened their cooperation by signing the contract for the "first domestic BOPLA film dedicated production line." This move marked that their cooperation had entered a comprehensive acceleration phase, fully advancing the construction of the production line, aiming to achieve greater breakthroughs in the high-end BOPLA film manufacturing field, injecting strong momentum into industrial upgrading.

In December, Zhonglun New Materials disclosed in its investor relations activity record that the company had successfully overcome the technical bottleneck in the production of biodegradable BOPLA film and achieved industrialization of the product, becoming the first enterprise in China to realize the industrialization of biodegradable BOPLA film. This sets a new benchmark for the industry, inspiring more companies to投身于 biodegradable material technological innovation wave. Note: The last part "inspiring more companies to投身于 biodegradable material technological innovation wave." seems to be incomplete or incorrectly formatted in the original Chinese text. It should likely continue as "投身于生物降解材料技术创新浪潮之中". The correct translation for this would be "immersing themselves in the wave of technological innovation in biodegradable materials."

About Guilin University of Electronic Technology and Jiangsu Xinsi Yi

Guilin Electric Power Institute is an important research, design, manufacturing, and service base for biaxially oriented film equipment in China. Since successfully developing the first domestically produced biaxially oriented film equipment in the 1970s, Guilin Electric Power Institute has provided nearly two hundred sets of various types of film stretching equipment to domestic and international users. To break through the technical bottleneck of BOPLA film mass production equipment, in recent years, Guilin Electric Power Institute has invested in the construction of a multifunctional biaxial stretching experimental line, collaborating with research institutes and upstream and downstream units of the industrial chain to conduct in-depth optimization work on BOPLA film processes and equipment design and manufacturing. This has accumulated rich design and manufacturing experience from small-scale tests, pilot tests to large-scale production, and the BOPLA film products from batch trials on the production line have been validated by several domestic "Zhong" customers.

Jiangsu Xinsi Yi is a company primarily engaged in BOPLA films and biodegradable materials. It has established a research center in collaboration with a well-known domestic university research institute, dedicated to the research and preparation of biodegradable materials. Its independently developed BOPLA film has achieved stable mass production on the multifunctional biaxial stretching test line at Guilin Electric Institute. The biodegradability performance meets the requirements of the EU standard EN13432:2000 and the national standard GB/T19277.1-2011, and it has passed the certification audits by authoritative biodegradable product certification agencies, including Rhine TUV and the Guangdong Microbial Analysis and Testing Center. The products have been successfully applied in food and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as electronic packaging, and have received wide recognition from domestic and international customers.

Significance

The BOPLA film has achieved stable mass production on the multifunctional bi-directional stretching test line, indicating a further breakthrough in the cooperation between both parties.

This achievement is the result of deep integration between bio-based materials and high-end film manufacturing equipment, effectively driving the development of China's high-end BOPLA film manufacturing towards higher quality. The traditional film manufacturing industry faces pressure to transform environmentally. The mass production of BOPLA films opens up a feasible path for the industry to upgrade towards green and sustainable directions, which can drive innovations in the upstream and downstream industrial chains, creating a new green industrial ecosystem and enhancing the competitiveness of the industry in the global market.

In the current rollout of "restrictions on and bans against plastic products," there is an urgent demand for degradable materials. BOPLA film can completely decompose under industrial composting conditions within 6 months. Its stable mass production will help significantly reduce the usage of traditional plastic films, decrease "white pollution," and lower the long-term harm of plastic waste to soil, water, and air, thereby contributing to improving environmental quality.

From a technical perspective, the collaboration between Guilin Electric Power Research Institute and Jiangsu Xinsi Yi has overcome the technical bottleneck in the mass production of BOPLA film. This not only addresses key challenges in industrial development but also accumulates experience and cultivates talent for subsequent research and development of biodegradable materials, thereby stimulating innovation in the industry. The products have passed authoritative certifications both domestically and internationally, and have been successfully applied in fields such as food and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as electronic packaging, gaining widespread recognition. The stable mass production has enhanced product supply capabilities, meeting the demands of more domestic and international markets, breaking the foreign monopoly in the high-end biodegradable film market, expanding China's share of biodegradable material products in the international market, and enhancing China's voice and influence in the global environmental materials sector.
