Domestic innovation! Guilin Electric Technology Institute collaborates with Jiangsu Xinsi Yi to build the first set of domestically produced BOPLA film specialized production line.
Recently, the "BOPLA film" project jointly carried out by Guilin Electric Appliance Science Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guilin Electric Institute") and Jiangsu New Siyi Biological Materials Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Jiangsu New Siyi") has achieved stable mass production on the multifunctional biaxial stretching testing line at Guilin Electric Institute. The produced BOPLA film meets the biodegradable performance standards of the EU and relevant national standards, having passed reviews by authoritative certification and testing institutions both domestically and internationally. Currently, the construction of the first domestic dedicated production line for BOPLA film, jointly promoted by both parties, is accelerating.

"BOPLA film" stands for biaxially oriented polylactic acid film, which has good biocompatibility and degradability compared to traditional plastic film products. It can completely decompose within six months under industrial composting conditions. With the advancement of "plastic restriction and prohibition" policies and the enhancement of people's environmental awareness, BOPLA film and its manufacturing equipment are receiving increasing attention from all parties.

Guilin Electric Power Research Institute is an important research, design, manufacturing, and service base for biaxially oriented film equipment in China. Since successfully developing the first domestically produced biaxially oriented film equipment in the 1970s, Guilin Electric Power Research Institute has provided nearly two hundred sets of various types of film stretching equipment to domestic and international users. In recent years, to break through the technical bottleneck of BOPLA film mass production equipment, Guilin Electric Power Research Institute has invested in the construction of a multifunctional biaxial stretching experimental line, collaborating with research institutes and upstream and downstream units of the industry chain to carry out in-depth optimization work on BOPLA film processes and equipment design and manufacturing. They have accumulated rich experience in design and manufacturing from small-scale tests to pilot tests and large-scale production, and the BOPLA film products produced in batch trials have been validated by several domestic clients with "Zhong" in their names.
Jiangsu Xinsi Yi is a company primarily engaged in BOPLA film and biodegradable materials. It has established a research center in collaboration with a well-known domestic university research institute, focusing on the research and preparation of biodegradable materials. The BOPLA film, independently developed by the company and achieved stable mass production on the multifunctional biaxial stretching test line at Guilin Electric Institute, meets the biodegradable performance standards of EU EN13432:2000 and national standard GB/T19277.1-2011. It has also passed the certification audits of authoritative biodegradable product certification agencies, including Rhein TUV and the Guangdong Microbial Analysis and Testing Center. The products have been successfully applied in the fields of food and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as electronic packaging, and have received widespread recognition from domestic and international customers.
To promote the integrated development of bio-based materials and high-end film manufacturing equipment, and to drive the high-quality development of high-end BOPLA film manufacturing in China, in December 2024, Guilin Electrical Institute signed a contract for the "first domestic BOPLA film dedicated production line" project with Jiangsu Xinsiyi. Currently, both parties are making every effort to advance the construction of this production line.
