Clariant Signs and Launches Three Major Additive Projects, Expands Investment in China Market

On November 6, Clariant announced a strategic joint partnership with Fuhua Tongda Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Fuhua"). The two parties will jointly establish a joint venture (the establishment of the joint venture is subject to approval by relevant authorities), focusing on the development of innovative halogen-free flame retardants. This new project aims to develop a new generation of phosphorus-based flame retardants to provide solutions for various industries such as construction materials, automotive, and electronics, directly addressing the increasingly stringent technical and regulatory environments in these fields.

The launch of this development plan comes at a time when global regulatory bodies are imposing stricter controls on traditional flame retardant technologies. Clariant's forward-looking strategy enables the company to anticipate these changes and develop compliant alternatives before clients face regulatory challenges.Plan.Effectively supplement the capacity of the two Exolit™ OP plants located in Knapsack, Germany.

On the day before the announcement of the collaboration with Fuhua, which is November 5th, Clariant's Dayawan Exolit™ OP high-performance halogen-free flame retardant plant's second production line officially commenced operation.

The factory has invested approximately 100 million Swiss francs in two high-performance halogen-free flame retardant production lines. The expansion is not limited to the flame retardant business alone, but focuses on enhancing production capabilities in two core areas: pharmaceutical excipients and specialty chemicals for personal and home care.

In the healthcare sector, in terms of pharmaceutical capabilities, the base has added a second spray tower specifically designed for customers. This upgrade has enabled Clariant to successfully become a core supplier of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients for laxatives in China. At the same time, it has significantly increased the production capacity of Polyglykol, which is now used in active ingredients for laxative formulations and ophthalmic drugs.

The product line of Clariant's Healthcare business is rich and includes key ingredients such as VitiPure™, Polyglykol, Lanogen™, and Motusflex™, which play important roles in solubilization, emulsification, and solvent functions in pharmaceutical formulations.

In the personal and home care sector, the expansion of the Daya Bay site includes products such as mild surfactants for the beauty industry and Texcare™ series polymers for home textile care, which can meet consumers' demand for high-quality care products. Additionally, the multifunctional plant (MPP) at Daya Bay will be expanded by adding more reactors.

In the industrial and agricultural sectors, we have developed low VOC emission water-based coating formulations and synthetic lubricant components that extend equipment life. In the agricultural sector, we have launched precision agriculture crop protection additives and a series of products that enhance soil health, water retention, and fertilizer efficiency. Notably, this expansion has significantly increased Clariant's production capacity for ethylene oxide derivatives (EODs) and a broader range of chemical products at the Daya Bay facility.

On November 3rd, Clariant officially commenced operations of the second Nylostab S-EED stabilizer production line in Cangzhou. This new production line is owned and operated by Cangzhou Tianci Clariant Chemicals Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Clariant and Beijing Tiangang.

The launch of the new production line in Cangzhou focuses on enhancing the production capacity of two core products from Clariant—Nylostab™ S-EED™ and AddWorks™ TFB117. Both of these products are high-performance stabilizers that are of great significance to the development of the nylon industry.

Nylostab™S-EED™ is a multifunctional stabilizer that is highly compatible with nylon materials, exhibiting excellent process stability and heat resistance at high processing temperatures. It effectively reduces the occurrence of broken filaments during the spinning process, enhances the quality of nylon products, shortens the injection molding cycle, and improves production efficiency. AddWorks™TFB117 is a long-lasting processing stabilizer for polyamides, significantly enhancing the performance of polymers in complex environments, including improving the heat resistance, UV resistance, and processing stability of nylon fibers. It helps manufacturers improve processing efficiency while extending the lifespan of the end products.
